Reconstruction of the internal structure of the pore system of a complex dinosaur eggshell (Megaloolithus siruguei)

Despite the many reconstructions of fossil material that have recently appeared in the literature, dinosaur eggshells have never been reconstructed using computing techniques. Using the EMAC 3-D modelling methodology, we reconstruct a section of the Late Cretaceous Megaloolithus siruguei eggshell, which has a particularly complex pore system, exhibiting an intricate network of vertical, oblique, and horizontal pores.
The Effect of Moderate- Versus High-Intensity Resistance Training on Systemic Redox State and DNA Damage in Healthy Older Women

This study investigated effects of a 16-week progressive resistance training program (RTP) with elastic bands at two different intensities on systemic redox state, DNA damage, and physical function in healthy older women. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned to the high-intensity group (HIGH; n = 39), moderate-intensity group (MOD; n = 31), or control group (CG; n = 23). The exercise groups performed an RTP twice a week with three to four sets of 6 (HIGH) or 15 (MOD) repetitions of six overall body exercises at a perceived exertion rate of 8-9 on the OMNI-Resistance Exercise Scale for use with elastic bands. La producción libraria de Alfonso X testimonia la simbiosis perfecta entre las funciones de gobierno y la labor intelectual y sistematiza su ideario político y cultural, no solo en texto, sino también en imagen. A partir de las miniaturas liminares de los códices regios, se evidencia que el motivo icónico privilegiado en la representación personal de Alfonso X es el rey con el libro: se analizan las distintas variantes de este modelo iconográfico que estampa la amplia gama de atribuciones que conforman el concepto de autoría alfonsí y consolida el modelo de la realeza sapiencial castellana.

The main factors that determined the Valencian beaches characteristics are the configuration of relief structures; fluvial sediment supply; low tidal range; the predominance of low energy waves; scarcity of big storms; longshore littoral drift; and human action. There is a significant prevalence of sandy beaches. Nevertheless, both at the northern part of the Gulf of Valencia and in the structural segment, between the Cape Sant Antoni and Alicante city, pebble and gravel beaches are predominant. The goal of my PhD studies was to synthesize new compounds for possible medical imaging applications. The first part of my thesis focused on the synthesis of heteroleptic ligands to achieve the chelation of two different metals aimed at addressing two types of medical imaging. We first synthesized porphyrins, which are well-known for the chelation of numerous transition metals. We focused on copper, whose copper-64 isotope is a β+ emitter usable in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). These porphyrins have been coupled with a DOTA derivative. Food industry is known to produce, as a side product, huge amounts of eggshell. “Green chemistry” is searching for efficient ways of recycling antropogenic waste materials including also eggshell which is composed mainly from calcium carbonate and small amount of protein membrane. It is challenging to apply powdered chicken eggshell in cement industry and replace natural limestone. The impact of organic component of eggshell on modified cement was not studied yet.
