Fragmenting gadolinium: Mononuclear polyoxometalate-based magnetic coolers for ultra-low temperatures

The polyoxometalate clusters with formula [Gd(W 5O 18) 2] 9- and [Gd(P 5W 30O 110)] 12- each carry a single magnetic ion of gadolinium, which is the most widespread element among magnetic refrigerant materials. In an adiabatic demagnetization, the lowest attainable temperature is limited by the presence of magnetic interactions that bring about magnetic order below a critical temperature. We demonstrate that this limitation can be overcome by chemically engineering the molecules in such a way to effectively screen all magnetic interactions, suggesting their use as ultra-low-temperature coolers. © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Heterobasidion annosum (Fr.) Bref s.l. sakņu trupe Eiropas Savienībā katru gadu izraisa ievērojamus ekonomiskos zaudējumus – aptuveni 790 milionus eiro. Lai ierobežotu trupes izplatību Latvijā skuju koku celmi diametrā virs 10 cm tiek apstrādāti ar bioloģiskiem preparātiem, kas satur lielās pergamentsēnes Phlebiopsis gigantea sporas. Līdzšinējos pētījumos konstatēts, ka dabiskā P. gigantea nevar efektīvi ierobežot Heterobasidion spp. izplatību. Maģistra darba temats ir „Latvijas un ārvalstu studējošo priekšstati par akadēmisko bibliotēku un no tiem izrietošā studējošo uzvedība: Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes piemērs”. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot un salīdzināt RSU Latvijas un ārvalstu studējošo priekštatus par bibliotēku un no tiem izrietošo studējošo uzvedību bibliotēkā. Maģistra darba teorētisko pamatojumu veido konstruktīvisma un mentālo modeļu teorijas. Datu ieguvei tika izmantota anketēšana, fokusgrupu diskusijas, daļēji strukturētās intervijas. - Marine recreational fishing is a popular outdoor activity. However, knowledge about the magnitude of recreational catches relative to commercial catches in coastal fisheries is generally sparse. Coastal Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) is a target species for recreational fishers in the North Atlantic. In Norway, recreational fishers are allowed to use a variety of traps and nets as well as long-line and rod and line when fishing for cod. From 2005 to 2013, 9729 cod (mean size: 40 cm, range: 15–93 cm) were tagged and released in coastal Skagerrak, southeast Norway. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anxiety (cognitive- and somatic anxiety and self-confidence) and mental toughness, and top-class referees’ subjective experience on pressure as a soccer official. 183 top-class referees answered an online questionnaire. Mental toughness was measured by using the SMTQ and anxiety by using the CSAI-2. Mixed metal oxides based in Mo(W)–Nb–V–Te with tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure have been synthesized by a hydrothermal method from aqueous solutions of the corresponding Keggin-type heteropolyacids and further heat-treatment in N2 at 700 ◦ C. The materials have been characterized by several physico-chemical techniques, i.e. XRD, Raman, FTIR, SEM-EDS, and TEM. This procedure allows controlling the chemical species to be distributed in the different interstices of the TTB skeleton, which is a key factor to regulate the catalytic properties of the final solid. W(CO)5(E-2) thermally and photochemically eliminates bulky E-1,2-diferrocenylimine (E-3) via a formal 1,2-H shift from the N to the carbene C atom. Darbā aprakstīta triju mezglu bojājumpiecietīgas virtuālo serveru izmitināšanas vides izveide, kas sevī iekļauj koplietojamas augstas pieejamības disku apakšsistēmas izveidi un šī kompleksa bojājumpiecietības un ātrdarbības aspekti. Darba mērķis ir rast risinājumu bojājumpiecietīgas virtuālo serveru izmitināšanas vides izveidei, izmantojot trīs fiziskus serverus, kas atbilst iestādes norādītajām prasībām. Rezultātā izveidota strādājoša vide, kur vienas komponentes kļūme nerada risinājuma nodrošināto servisu zaudlaiku, kā arī noskaidrotas Ceph un augstas pieejamības virtualizācijas klastera izmantošanas nianses, ātrdarbība un risinājumi dažādu kļūmju situācijās.

Abstract. The European Skynet Radiometers network (EuroSkyRad or ESR) has been recently established as a research network of European PREDE sun-sky radiometers. Moreover, ESR is federated with SKYNET, an international network of PREDE sun-sky radiometers mostly present in East Asia. Darba mērķis bija pievērst uzmanību nepieciešamībai iepazīstināt skolēnus ar dažādām kultūrām angļu valodas stundās, lai attīstītu viņu starpkultūru apzināšanos, kā arī lai atrastu labākās metodes šādu studiju ieviešanai. Nepieciešamība attīstīt skolēnu starpkultūru apzināšanos ir arvien pieaugoša un tam nepieciešams pievērst īpašu uzmanību, lai sniegtu skolēniem zināšanas, kas nepieciešamas mūsdienu globāli saistītajā sabiedrībā. Autore vēlējās pierādīt esošo problēmu un piedāvāt konkrētus piemērus un metodes, kā mācīt par dažādām kultūrām angļu valodas stundās, tādejādi attīstītot skolēnu starpkultūru apzināšanos.
