Abstract Recently, communicating admiration and appreciation in public discourse has become a subject of study since these acts play a very important role in shaping positive social relations not only on a micro scale, but also on a macro one. The Impact of Acculturation on Attitudinal Familism in a Community of Puerto Rican Americans

The goal of this study was to examine the relationship between acculturation and familism in a samnple of 182 Hispanics of Puerto Rican descent. Exploratory factor analysis was used to establish the multidimensionality of each construct. Consistent with earlier studies, three dimensions of acculturation and familism were identified. Each dimension offamilism was then regressed on a set of explanatory variables that included three dimensions of acculturation. Theresa May’s Representation of Reality in her Brexit Speeches

This study analyses Theresa May’s three seminal Brexit speeches. These describe the kind of desirable post-Brexit EU-UK relationship that she envisioned, and together constitute a corpus of 18,532 words. The speeches can be considered as landmarks on a timeline that was initially meant to lead to the delivery of Brexit. It is hypothesized that there may be meaningful differences between the speeches, and that these affect the representation of reality. These in turn would have a bearing on May’s discursive self-representation as either an individualized or a collectivized social actor. Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) reportedly have difficulties in responding to bids for joint attention, notably in following pointing gestures. El propósito de este artículo es analizar la presencia de Guinea en las ferias muestrario que se celebraron en Valencia durante la década de 1940. En ellas, de acuerdo con la doctrina de la Hispanidad, la colonia se delimitó como un territorio a civilizar –cristianizar y españolizar–, siendo de vital importancia en el discurso público la retórica nacionalcatolicista que entreveraba negocio y misión. Este trabajo reflexiona sobre la interacción turista/anfitrión en los tours étnicos promovidos en la región Altos Tsotsil-Tseltal Chiapas, México. Las agencias turísticas promueven diferentes encuentros de los turistas con la población indígena donde se espera que los primeros cumplan con sus expectativas sobre el Otro exótico y los segundos se acoplen a los imaginarios que corren sobre sí mismos.
