El presente trabajo aborda el fenómeno de la violencia masculina contra el cuerpo de la mujer en el ámbito del surrealismo. De manera específica, el artículo se centra en el estudio visual de un tipo de agresión consistente en el ataque y rasgadura del vientre femenino, de donde se extraen las vísceras. Esta temática aparece en la producción de numerosos artistas surrealistas, que condensan una latente misoginia en la imagen de mujeres desventradas. Concetta Giliberto’s essay investigates the motif of the descensus ad inferos in the anonymous Old English version of Felix’s Vita S. Guthlaci and Vercelli Homily xxiii, two texts which have been shown to be independently derived from a now lost vernacular translation of the Latin Vita. Polyamines are small aliphatic cationic molecules synthesized via a highly regulated pathway and involved in general molecular and cellular phenomena. Both mammalian cells and microorganisms synthesize polyamines, and both sources may contribute to the presence of polyamines in the circulation. The dominant location for microorganisms within the body is the gut. Accordingly, the gut microbiota probably synthesizes most of the polyamines in the circulation in addition to those produced by the mammalian host cells. The development of resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis toxic proteins is a growing concern because it could threaten both conventional and gene transfer use of this environmentally safe biological insecticide. The most common mechanism of resistance involves changes in binding affinity of toxin receptors in the insect midgut membrane. This has not been the case in Heliothis virescens.
