Weight Gain Associated with Cinnarizine

OBJECTIVE: To report four cases of cinnarizine-induced weight gain. DATA SOURCES: Case reports from a local obesity center and review articles. DATA EXTRACTION: Data were abstracted from spontaneous comments made by patients to one of the authors, who was a doctor at the clinic, and reviewed by the remaining authors. DATA SYNTHESIS: We reviewed the cases of four women, aged 50–57 years without endocrine or metabolic pathologies, that showed weight gain associated with the intake of cinnarizine for one to two years. Reproductive state and care giving in Stegodyphus (Araneae: Eresidae) and the implications for the evolution of sociality

Abstract Cooperative brood care is a rare phenomenon in spiders and is restricted to a few social species, including three in the genus Stegodyphus. Brood care in Stegodyphus begins with regurgitation feeding followed by matriphagy: the young consume the body fluids of their mother causing her to die quickly. Whether such an extreme form of maternal care can become a communal task should depend on physiological or historical preconditions. Study of the fuel/clad bonding of pressurized water reactors fuel rods

Durability and integrity of materials used in nuclear power plants is a continuous concern of the nuclear power plant owners and developers. During the fuel irradiation in pressurised water reactors (PWR), the whole fuel-clad assembly is subjected to several irradiation-induced modifications. In particular, the fuel element expansion concomitant to the cladding creeping, leads to the contacting of both materials, allowing the oxidation of the inner side of the clad, locally at first, then tending to affect the overall cladding inner surface. Physical, chemical and mechanical evolution of the fuel-cladding interface in irradiated PWR fuel rods

During the fuel irradiation in nuclear reactor, the fuel-cladding assembly is exposed to several irradiation-induced modifications. The fuel swelling coupled with cladding creep leads to a contact between the fuel and the cladding. The oxygen transport from the UO2 fuel to the zirconium layer induces progressively the Zr-cladding oxidation. This oxidation is initially local with the formation of islets. Then, with the increasing burnup of the fuel, it conducts to a continuous layer of about 8-µm thickness, localized at the fuel-cladding interface. At high burnup, zirconia growths anchor themselves in the periphery of the fuel (which is restructured) leading to pellet/cladding interlocking. …

The institution of the Real Audiencia in the kingdom of Sardinia since the 1560s is part of a wider process which saw the rise and development of royal supreme courts of justice in several European countries of the early modern period. In fact, major State formation processes all around Europe required that monarchs increased their control on local authorities and that new increasingly centralised systems of judicial review gained precedence over all particular jurisdictions, feudal as well as municipal. This brought about a dramatic transformation in the field of criminal law enforcement and administration of justice.
