This article presents the results of the analysis of three sets of texts concerning the issue of refugees in various periods of history. Their subject matter concerns Eastern refugees from the former German territories, the so-called refugees from GDR (East Germany) and modern international refugees. The purpose of this article is to find answers to the following questions: 1. How is the refugee problem linguistically expressed in the selected collection of texts? 2. What characteristics do newspapers give to refugees and how are they judged? 3. What differences and similarities can be observed in the description of the issues concerning refugees based on the selected collections of texts?

Borrelia burgdorferi Outer Membrane Vesicles Contain Antigenic Proteins, but Do Not Induce Cell Death in Human Cells

Like many bacterial species, Borrelia burgdorferi, the pleomorphic bacterium that causes Lyme borreliosis, produces outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). Borrelial OMVs (BbOMVs) have been identified as containing virulence factors, such as outer surface proteins (Osps) A, B, and C, as well as DNA. However, the pathogenicity of BbOMVs in disease development is still unclear. In this study, we characterized purified BbOMVs by analyzing their size and immunolabeling for known antigenic markers: OspA, OspC, p39, and peptidoglycan. Kirsi Ojalan väitöskirjatyön tulokset antavat lisätietoa bakuloviruksen pinnan muokkauksesta ja viruksen soveltuvuudesta geeniterapiaan. Bakulovirukset voivat tulevaisuudessa olla varteenotettava vaihtoehto kohdennettavana geeninsiirtovälineenä esimerkiksi syövän tai sydän- ja verisuonitautien hoidossa.Tutkimus osoittaa, että bakuloviruksen pinnalla voidaan tehokkaasti ilmentää vieraita molekyylejä liittämällä ne osaksi viruksen luonnollisia pintaproteiineja.
