Spectral imaging (SI) refers to the acquisition of the three-dimensional (3D) spectral cube of spatial and spectral data of a source object at a limited number of wavelengths in a given wavelength range. Snapshot spectral imaging (SSI) refers to the instantaneous acquisition (in a single shot) of the spectral cube, a process suitable for fast changing objects. Formulation of Different Chitosan Hydrogels for Cartilage Tissue Repair

Different formulations of Chitosan/sulphate and Chitosan/PEGDE were produced by physical and chemical reticulation to obtain hydrogels with better physiochemical properties. The hydrogels were analyzed – in terms of their non-toxicity, proliferative, differentiative, inflammatory and immunology responses. Commercial grade Chitosan (Sigma) was solubilized and purified by progressive filtrations. Then, the polymer was freeze-dried in a water soluble cationic form. A physical hydrogel was prepared by mixing a 3 % w/w water solution of the a.m. polymer with different stoichiometric ratios of (SO4=) 1/0.5;1/0.75;1/1 respectively. Catalytic activity of humic substances in condensation reactions

Abstract Humic substances (HS) have considerable impact on the fate of organic xenobiotics in natural environments. This paper reports on the catalytic activity of HS in condensation reactions of carbonyl compounds with active methylene compounds, using Knoevenagel and Claisen-Schmidt reactions as examples. Of the HS, the aquatic fulvic acids are the most active, but the velocity of condensation reactions depends also on the temperature, concentration and form of HS (free or salt) used, and the solvent.

This article discusses the process of canonization of two African slaves, Benedict and Anthony, who were taken to Sicily through a combination of privacy wars, the slave trade and conflicts between Christian states and the Ottoman Empire in the context of modern-era Mediterranean.
