Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus on selvittää ruotsinopettajien mielipiteitä englannin kielen vaikutuksesta ja asemasta yläkoulun ruotsinopetuksessa. Tutkielmassa keskitytään erityisesti siihen voiko ruotsinopettajien mielestä englantia hyödyntää myös ruotsin opettamisessa ja jos voi, niin miten. Lisäksi tutkielmassa selvitetään kokevatko ruotsinopettajat englannin resurssina vai uhkana ruotsin kielelle. Tutkielma on toteutettu kyselytutkimuksena keväällä 2015 ja siihen osallistui 30 ruotsinopettajaa. Since 2020, the teaching of the A1 language starts in grade 1. In order to study the shift to an earlier start to the teaching of the A1 language, a survey of the teaching of A1 languages in grade 1 was carried out with the focus on the most common A1 languages: Finnish in the Swedish-medium schools and English in the Finnish-medium schools. The article examines the teachers’ perceptions of starting the teaching of A1 languages in grade 1. The data consists of 644 answers to an online questionnaire, of which 94 apply to A1 Finnish and 550 to A1 English. The present investigation addresses the gravity of mispronunciation for the intelligibility of English spoken by L1 Finland-Swedish teenagers. Previous research on the topic has been scarce, and even though there is some knowledge about the typical pronunciation challenges faced by this learner group, there is hardly any empirical research on the extent to which the typical mispronunciations actually cause misunderstandings. To investigate this, speech samples were elicited from teenaged L1 Finland-Swedish learners of English, demonstrating typical mispronunciations.
