Large-scale ab initio modelling of defects in perovskites: Fe impurity in SrTiO3

2002

Abstract Using the unrestricted Hartree–Fock method and supercells containing up to 160 atoms, we calculated the energy level positions in the gap and atomic geometry for the Fe4+ impurity substituting for a host Ti atom in SrTiO3. In agreement with experiment, the high-spin (S=2) state is much lower in energy than the zero-spin state. The energy level positions strongly depend on the asymmetric displacement mode of the six nearest O ions which is a combination of the Jahn–Teller and breathing modes. A considerable covalent bonding between the Fe ion and the four nearest O ions takes place.

First principles studies of the self trapped hole and the fluorine adsorption on the SrF2(111) surface

2013

Abstract By using density functional theory (DFT) with hybrid exchange potentials, namely DFT-B3PW, the ground states of self trapped hole and adsorbed fluorine atom on the strontium fluoride (1 1 1) surface are investigated. The self trapped hole at an interstitial anion site is denoted by H-center. In both the H-center and fluorine adsorption cases, the strong relaxations due to the surface effects are observed. In the H-center case, the unpaired electron distributes almost equally over two H-center atoms. This equivalent distribution of the unpaired electron is totally different from that of the bulk H-center [J. Phys. Chem. A 114 (2010) 8444]. The other case with an adsorbed fluorine at…

THE SHAPLEY-SOLIDARITY VALUE FOR GAMES WITH A COALITION STRUCTURE

2013

A value for games with a coalition structure is introduced, where the rules guiding cooperation among the members of the same coalition are different from the interaction rules among coalitions. In particular, players inside a coalition exhibit a greater degree of solidarity than they are willing to use with players outside their coalition. The Shapley value is therefore used to compute the aggregate payoffs for the coalitions, and the solidarity value to obtain the payoffs for the players inside each coalition.

A High-Resolution Penalization Method for large Mach number Flows in the presence of Obstacles

2009

International audience; A penalization method is applied to model the interaction of large Mach number compressible flows with obstacles. A supplementary term is added to the compressible Navier-Stokes system, seeking to simulate the effect of the Brinkman-penalization technique used in incompressible flow simulations including obstacles. We present a computational study comparing numerical results obtained with this method to theoretical results and to simulations with Fluent software. Our work indicates that this technique can be very promising in applications to complex flows.

Data Analytics in Healthcare: A Tertiary Study

2022

AbstractThe field of healthcare has seen a rapid increase in the applications of data analytics during the last decades. By utilizing different data analytic solutions, healthcare areas such as medical image analysis, disease recognition, outbreak monitoring, and clinical decision support have been automated to various degrees. Consequently, the intersection of healthcare and data analytics has received scientific attention to the point of numerous secondary studies. We analyze studies on healthcare data analytics, and provide a wide overview of the subject. This is a tertiary study, i.e., a systematic review of systematic reviews. We identified 45 systematic secondary studies on data analy…

FCA-Net: Adversarial Learning for Skin Lesion Segmentation Based on Multi-Scale Features and Factorized Channel Attention

2019

International audience; Skin lesion segmentation in dermoscopic images is still a challenge due to the low contrast and fuzzy boundaries of lesions. Moreover, lesions have high similarity with the healthy regions in terms of appearance. In this paper, we propose an accurate skin lesion segmentation model based on a modified conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN). We introduce a new block in the encoder of cGAN called factorized channel attention (FCA), which exploits both channel attention mechanism and residual 1-D kernel factorized convolution. The channel attention mechanism increases the discriminability between the lesion and non-lesion features by taking feature channel int…

Exploring Multiobjective Optimization for Multiview Clustering

2018

We present a new multiview clustering approach based on multiobjective optimization. In contrast to existing clustering algorithms based on multiobjective optimization, it is generally applicable to data represented by two or more views and does not require specifying the number of clusters a priori . The approach builds upon the search capability of a multiobjective simulated annealing based technique, AMOSA, as the underlying optimization technique. In the first version of the proposed approach, an internal cluster validity index is used to assess the quality of different partitionings obtained using different views. A new way of checking the compatibility of these different partitioning…

A critical review on the implementation of static data sampling techniques to detect network attacks

2021

International audience; Given that the Internet traffic speed and volume are growing at a rapid pace, monitoring the network in a real-time manner has introduced several issues in terms of computing and storage capabilities. Fast processing of traffic data and early warnings on the detected attacks are required while maintaining a single pass over the traffic measurements. To palliate these problems, one can reduce the amount of traffic to be processed by using a sampling technique and detect the attacks based on the sampled traffic. Different parameters have an impact on the efficiency of this process, mainly, the applied sampling policy and sampling ratio. In this paper, we investigate th…

A Trajectory-Driven 3D Non-Stationary mm-Wave MIMO Channel Model for a Single Moving Point Scatterer

2021

This paper proposes a new non-stationary three-dimensional (3D) channel model for a physical millimeter wave (mm-Wave) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. This MIMO channel model is driven by the trajectory of a moving point scatterer, which allows us to investigate the impact of a single moving point scatterer on the propagation characteristics in an indoor environment. Starting from the time-variant (TV) channel transfer function, the temporal behavior of the proposed non-stationary channel model has been analyzed by studying the TV micro-Doppler characteristics and the TV mean Doppler shift. The proposed channel model has been validated by measurements performed in an indoor e…
