Age as a Risk Factor for Burnout Syndrome in Nursing Professionals: A Meta-Analytic Study

Although past research has highlighted the possibility of a direct relationship between the age of nursing professionals and burnout syndrome, results have been far from conclusive. The aim of this study was to conduct a wider analysis of the influence of age on the three dimensions of burnout syndrome (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment) in nurses. We performed a meta-analysis of 51 publications extracted from health sciences and psychology databases that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Aim To describe nurses' decision-making, experiences and perceptions of escalating deteriorating patients to the treating medical team using urgent clinical review criteria. Design A qualitative design comprising individual in-depth interviews with nurses from a major Australian metropolitan tertiary teaching hospital.
