Search for Maximal Flavor Violating Scalars in Same-Charge Lepton Pairs inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

Models of maximal flavor violation (MxFV) in elementary particle physics may contain at least one new scalar SU(2) doublet field {phi}{sub FV}=({eta}{sup 0},{eta}{sup +}) that couples the first and third generation quarks (q{sub 1}, q{sub 3}) via a Lagrangian term L{sub FV}={xi}{sub 13}{phi}{sub FV}q{sub 1}q{sub 3}. These models have a distinctive signature of same-charge top-quark pairs and evade flavor-changing limits from meson mixing measurements. Data corresponding to 2 fb{sup -1} collected by the Collider Dectector at Fermilab II detector in pp collisions at {radical}(s)=1.96 TeV are analyzed for evidence of the MxFV signature. Generalized Parton Distributions in the valence region from Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering

This work reviews the recent developments in the field of Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) and Deeply virtual Compton scattering in the valence region, which aim at extracting the quark structure of the nucleon. We discuss the constraints which the present generation of measurements provide on GPDs, and examine several state-of-the-art parametrizations of GPDs. Future directions in this active field are discussed.

Dispersion-to-spectrum mapping in nonlinear fibers based on optical wave-breaking

In this work we recognize new strategies involving optical wave-breaking for controlling the output pulse spectrum in nonlinear fibers. To this end, first we obtain a constant of motion for nonlinear pulse propagation in waveguides derived from the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In a second phase, using the above conservation law we theoretically analyze how to transfer in a simple manner the group-velocity-dispersion curve of the waveguide to the output spectral profile of pulsed light. Finally, the computation of several output spectra corroborates our proposition.

Observation of laser-induced continuum structure in the NO molecule

0953-4075; We present experimental results on the modification of a molecular ionization continuum through a laser-induced continuum structure. The effect is demonstrated in nitric oxide where the resonant 2 + 1 multiphoton-ionization process of the X (2)Pi(3/2) electronic ground state is modified by dressing the continuum with the electromagnetically embedded M(2)Sigma(+) Rydberg state. Through selection of a two-photon rovibronic transition via the D electronic state, a single rotational ground state level is excited to the continuum with one laser field. Light self-confinement via second harmonic generation in a 2D nonlinear photonic crystal waveguide

Spatial solitary waves induced by quadratic nonlinearities have been the subject of many theoretical and experimental investigations in the last decade, with extensive studies being devoted to soliton formation in 1D nonlinear photonic crystals (NPC) such as PPLN (periodically poled LiNbO3). Here we present results on a new class of (1 + 1)D spatial solitary waves, the first examples of quadratic self-confinement in a 2D NPC.

The Study Of The Nuclear Motion In D2+ Molecular Ion By Using The Harmonic Spectra

In this paper we show how it is possible to investigate the nuclei dynamics of a D2+ molecular ion by using the high harmonic generation spectra emitted by the system when subjected to an intense laser field. In particular, the emitted spectra contains, in addition to the usual odd harmonic peaks, additional satellite peaks whose frequency spacing is equal to the vibrational frequency of the nuclei.

Nuclear Molecular Dynamics Investigated by Using High Order Harmonic Generation Spectra

In this paper we show how it is possible to investigate the nuclear dynamics of simple molecular ions and molecules by looking at the high-order harmonic generation spectra they emit in the presence of a laser field. In particular we investigate two different effects: the presence of sidebands in the emitted spectra around the usual odd harmonics and an isotopic effect which affects the height of the plateau lines. We further study the advantages and the limitations of the semiclassical approach.

Laser driven structured quantum rings

In this work we study harmonic emission from structured quantum rings (SQRs). In SQRs, electrons trapped in two-dimensional structures are further confined by an external potential composed of N scattering centers arranged on a circle. We build a suitable one-dimensional model Hamiltonian describing this class of systems and analytically solve the associated Schödinger equation. We find that the solution can be expressed in terms of Mathieu functions and focus on the specific case of N = 6. By exactly solving the time-dependent Schödinger equation, we then show how the harmonic response to linearly polarized lasers strongly depends on the ring physical parameters. Evidence of Nuclear Motion in H2-like Molecule by Means of High Order Harmonic Generation

The dynamics of hydrogen-like molecules is investigated beyond the usual fixed nuclei approximation. The nuclear motion introduces in the familiar spectrum of emitted radiation additional regular lines whose separation is essentially given by the vibrational frequency of nuclear motion. A wavelet analysis of the emitted spectrum shows that the intensity of the harmonic lines is modulated with the same period of the nuclear motion; this suggests the possibility of the real-time control of the nuclear dynamics.
