Periodontitis and alzheimer´s disease
2020
Background Alzheimer's disease (AD), the main cause of dementia in the adult population, is characterized by a progressive loss of cognitive function. It is considered that neuroinflammation plays a fundamental role in its onset and progression. The bacteria present in the disbiotic microbiome generated during the course of periodontitis (PE) are capable of inducing a systemic inflammatory response, exacerbating the production of proinflammatory mediators that have the potential to spread to the systemic circulation. Material and Methods A literature review was made using the databases Scielo, PubMed, EBSCO and key words "Alzheimer disease", "Periodontitis", "Neurodegeneration", "Inflammati…
A study on the assessment of the production costs curves in micro-grids
2013
In micro-grids, due to their small scale, there is commonly only one power supplier. A competitive wholesale market hardly exists, so the question about how to consider market issues for small producers within micro-grids arises. On the other hand, the specific features of micro-grids where load and generated power hardly find a balance, require that customers take part to regulation issues, also using demand-response (DR) programs. In this paper, price responsive (PR) policies and their programs are discussed to answer this question. A case study of a micro-grid with one micro-turbine and two photovoltaic (PV) generators is analyzed to assess the overall production cost in order to build a…
Historie (nie)opowiedziane. Problemy przekazu międzypokoleniowego i socjalizacji historycznej w rodzinach na Śląsku Opolskim
2016
The article presents the research about the ntergenerational transmission in families in the Opole Silesia. This community co-creates the descendants of the native population, peoples displaced from the former eastem borderlands, and immigrants population from the central Polish and other regions. The aim of the study was to investigate the social and cultural determinants of intergenerational transmission and its’ contents and forms in families in the Opole Silesia. The generations which grew up during the post-war period are different from the previous ones by social and cultural factors, which are important for the continuity of intergenerational transmission, such as: family model, the …
Wewnątrzkulturowe uwarunkowania międzypokoleniowej transmisji przywiązania w adolescencji
2017
Przywiązanie matki i n…
Nanorings driven by a laser field
2013
We present the dynamics of an electron constrained over an 1D ring with radius of 0.142 nm driven by a laser field. The temporal evolution of the system is evaluated by a semi-analytical solution of the full quantum time dependent Schr¨odinger equation. In our calculation the gap energy between the ground and the first excited state of the nanoring is three times the photon energy laser (0.63 eV) and the laser intensity is 4·1014 W/cm2 . Our analysis is performed by considering different polarization states of the incident laser. Our attention is mainly focused on the study of the High Harmonic Generation (HHG), the energy and the angular momentum absorbed by the driven system. We observe 1…
The Co-Design of a Counter-Narrative Social Campaign: Second Generation Youths Against Radicalization
2021
This paper deals with the OLTRE project (ISF - DG Migration and Home Affairs, EU) funded for preventing the radicalization of the second-generation of migrants in Italy. This essay aims to study the production of an online communication campaign co-designed by second-generation youths. The four Universities engaged in the project, in order to collect the issues for the campaign made an in-depth sociological research and an interdisciplinary social network analysis. We will present the results of the non-standard field research. Starting from the different dimensions of the risk of radicalization proposed by the kaleidoscopic overview of risk factors (Sieckelinck and Gielen 2018: 5; Ranstorp…
Fra le reti e la città. Lo spazio delle nuove stazioni per l'Alta Velocità
2014
Between networks and cities: Architectural space in the new High-Speed train stations. Over the past thirty years, megainvestment rail projects in Western Europe have become powerful transformation vectors. An extensive literature addresses the issue with an urban engineering oriented approach, concerned primarily with the large scale and focusing on governance and urban planning. This monograph section of “Trasporti & Cultura” examines the relationship of new high-speed railroad stations to their cities. The objective is to investigate the depth and meaning of the transformations being wrought by the new stations, in a comparative international scenario. Articles on Japan and China are fol…

Salutogenic design and regeneration for building heritage
2022
The design approach used is the SPCI “Salutogenic Park City Immersive” which focuses on the renaturation of urban living environments. A strategic role is played by the use of greening and landscaping design systems that are able to absorb a significant share of the country’s climate-changing gas emissions, as already partly highlighted by the European Green Deal. In particular, the key factors and methodologies of intervention are based on the interaction between Green City Adaptive and Resilient Design, in terms of physical redevelopment, environmental remediation and energy improvement, integrated with the enhancement of existing heritage. With the SPCI we intend to experiment with inter…
