Modelling of a prosumer’s substation in a district heating network: validation and dynamic analysis

Thermal grids will play a key role in the development of local energy communities and the achievement of 100% renewable societies. However, challenges are related to the capability of dealing with the increasing number of producers which could supply heat to thermal grids. Indeed, as in the case of the electricity grid, heat could be available for some hours in a day from RES plants installed at user level and distributed in the network (also referred to as “prosumers”). To achieve more reliable results when performing energy analyses of these innovative applications, there is a need to rely on accurate models of each component. For instance, substations are of paramount importance in the i…

Automated source code transformations on fourth generation languages

2004

To control the operation of large application suites or to tailor a special purpose application to particular need, developers frequently use application specific languages, such as batch, scripting, and query languages. These languages which are also referred to as fourth generation languages (4GLs) therefore play an important role in today's economy. Incompatibilities between different versions of 4GLs and changing requirements may make massive changes on a company's library of 4GL programs necessary. Here, we explore possibilities for performing mass changes on 4GLs and show how the transformation of programs written in 4GLs compares to the transformation of mainstream programming langua…

Tree Based Domain-Specific Mapping Languages

2012

Model transformation languages have been mainly used by researchers --- the software engineering industry has not yet widely accepted the model driven software development (MDSD). One of the main reasons is the complexity of metamodelling principles the developers are required to know to actually use model transformations in the way the OMG has stated. We offer the basic principles how to create domain-specific model transformation languages which can be used by developers relying only on familiar modelling concepts. We propose to use simple graphical mappings to specify the correspondence between source and target models which are represented using trees based on the concrete syntax of und…

Model Transformation Languages and Their Implementation by Bootstrapping Method

2008

In this paper a sequence of model transformation languages L0, L1, L2 is defined. The first language L0 is very simple, and for this language it is easy to build an efficient compiler to C++. The next language L1 is an extension of L0, and it contains powerful pattern definition facilities. The last language L2 is of sufficiently high level and can be used for implementation of traditional pattern-based high level model transformation languages, as well as for the development of model transformations directly. For languages L1 and L2 efficient compilers have been built using the bootstrapping method: L1 to L0 in L0, and L2 to L1 in L1. The results confirm the efficiency of model transformat…

Effects of escitalopram on the regulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and nerve growth factor protein levels in a rat model of chronic stres…

2009

Escitalopram (ES-CIT) is a widely used, highly specific antidepressant. Until now there has been very little evidence on how this drug under pathological conditions affects an important feature within the pathophysiology of stress-related disorders such as depression: the endogenous neurotrophins. By using a well-characterized rat model in which chronic stress induces depressive-like behavior, the levels of neurotrophins brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) were determined in representative brain regions and serum using a highly sensitive improved fluorometric two-site ELISA system. There was a significant increase of BDNF in the left and right cortices aft…

Chronic fluoxetine treatment in middle-aged rats induces changes in the expression of plasticity-related molecules and in neurogenesis

2012

Abstract Background Antidepressants promote neuronal structural plasticity in young-adult rodents, but little is known of their effects on older animals. The polysialylated form of the neural cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM) may mediate these structural changes through its anti-adhesive properties. PSA-NCAM is expressed in immature neurons and in a subpopulation of mature interneurons and its expression is modulated by antidepressants in the telencephalon of young-adult rodents. Results We have analyzed the effects of 14 days of fluoxetine treatment on the density of puncta expressing PSA-NCAM and different presynaptic markers in the medial prefrontal cortex, hippocampus and amygdala of mi…

A framework for data integration of offshore wind farms

2013

Abstract Operation and maintenance play an important role in maximizing the yield and minimizing the downtime of wind turbines, especially offshore wind farms where access can be difficult due to harsh weather conditions for long periods. It contributes up to 25–30% to the cost of energy generation. Improved operation and maintenance (O&M) practices are likely to reduce the cost of wind energy and increase safety. In order to optimize the O&M, the importance of data exchange and knowledge sharing within the offshore wind industry must be realized. With more data available, it is possible to make better decisions, and thereby improve the recovery rates and reduce the operational costs. This …

The hallmark of anonymity. Questions of authorship in the Hippocratic Corpus, specifically regarding the so-called 'Author C'

2020

Since Émile Littrés’ time a particular attention has been devoted to a group of Hippocratic treatises (On Generation/On the Nature of the Child + Book IV of Diseases) showing a significant range of affinities and common elements in language, style, tenor and thought. Studies by Hermann Grensemann (in the 1980s) contributed to further philological analysis of the peculiar traits of the so-called Hippocratic ‘author C’, widening the textual basis to be involved in the investigation (including gynaecological treatises like On Diseases of Women 1-2 as well as parts of Infertile Women). Recently new light has also been shed by Elizabeth Craik (editing 2009 the treatise On Glands) on the historic…

Influence of concomitant medications on the total clearance and the risk for supra-therapeutic plasma concentrations of Citalopram. A population-base…

2014

Introduction: The main objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the use of multiple medications and other risk factors on citalopram plasma concentrations. Methods: A retrospective cohort study with a naturalistic population of 957 patients for whom routine therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of citalopram had been requested between 2006 and 2013 was conducted. Results: Concomitant drugs inhibiting at least 2 different CYP subtypes involved in the metabolism of citalopram decreased statistically significantly the total clearance (Clt). Compared to younger patients over 64-year-old patients had on average a 4.5 times higher risk rate of supra-therapeutic plasma concentration…

Assessing drug-drug interactions through therapeutic drug monitoring when administering oral second-generation antipsychotics.

2016

Second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) are frequently co-prescribed with drug metabolic inducers and inhibitors. SGA pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions (DDIs) with inducers and inhibitors have not received enough attention in the literature but can be studied in by using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).The limited information available on oral SGA pharmacokinetic DDIs is reviewed. A systematic literature search on the available oral SGA TDM studies is completed. By integrating TDM studies with the information on in vitro metabolism studies, case report/series and prospective studies, a table is provided to manage average SGA patients taking inducers or inhibitors by using TDM and/or …
