Primary transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) for malignant choroidal melanoma

. Purpose:  To evaluate the efficacy of transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) as the only method of treatment for small choroidal melanoma. Patients and Methods:  In a prospective non-randomized analysis, 20 patients with primary choroidal melanoma (posterior to the equator with base ≤ 2 and thickness ≤ 4.5 mm) were treated with TTT as the only method of treatment (diode laser at 810 nm, beam diameter 3 mm, power setting 0.3–0.9 W, exposure time 20–37 min). During follow-up of at least 6 months, clinical aspects, ultrasonographic tumour thickness, fluorescein and indocyanine green angiographic patterns, visual acuity and ocular side-effects were recorded. [EN] The main objective of this investigation was to develop an in vitro-in vivo correlation (IVIVC) for immediate release candesartan cilexetil formulations by designing an in vitro dissolution test to be used as development tool. The IVIVC could be used to reduce failures in future bioequivalence studies. Data from two bioequivalence studies were scaled and combined to obtain the dataset for the IVIVC. The ocular manifestations in IBD screening (OMIS) questionnaire: pilot study on detection of ocular involvement in inflammatory bowel diseases.

Purpose: To assess the usefulness of a dedicated questionnaire for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) treated with biological drugs for the detection of ocular extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs). IBD can cause extraintestinal symptoms including ocular complaints which are frequently ignored and may be associated with significant morbidity, including blindness. Methods: We developed a questionnaire, named Ocular Manifestations in IBD Screening (OMIS) questionnaire, after agreement between gastroenterologists and ophthalmologists. Construction and stability of a close-packed structure observed in thin colloidal crystals

We have characterized a close-packed structure of confined charged colloidal spheres, which has been recently discovered. Using different microscopy experiments, the vertically arranged hexagonal planes of n - hcp perpendicular are found to continuously evolve from the horizontally oriented stacks of n hexagonal planes (nDelta) following the maximum packing criterion, but discontinuously transform to a stack of n+1 square planes [(n+1)[SHAPE OF A SQUARE]]. Large mechanically stable domains with threefold twin structures are regularly observed in the suspended state at packing fractions between 0.4 and 0.58.

A CFA produces a mosaic image, and normally a subsequent CFA demosaick-ing algorithm interpolates the mosaic image and estimates the full-resolution colour image. Color- and motion-specific units in the tectum opticum of goldfish

Extracellular recordings were performed from 69 units at different depths between 50 and [Formula: see text]m below the surface of tectum opticum in goldfish. Using large field stimuli (86[Formula: see text] visual angle) of 21 colored HKS-papers we were able to record from 54 color-sensitive units. The colored papers were presented for 5[Formula: see text]s each. They were arranged in the sequence of the color circle in humans separated by gray of medium brightness. We found 22 units with best responses between orange, red and pink. Infant Manipulative Actions upon Customary and Uncustomary Objects in Independent and Joint Activity

Eight 12 month‐olds acting on objects were observed in two sessions: 1) the objects were home objects; 2) they were brought by the observer as new exemplars of previous toys. Infants were observed manipulating objects independently and with their mothers. Type and cognitive level of infant's actions were coded. Conventional actions were more frequent in joint than independent activity. In independent activity, conventional actions were more frequent with customary objects. Using Redundant Visual Information From Different Dimensions for Attentional Selection

The present study investigated the use of redundant information for attentional selection of a visual object. Each display contained two overlapping objects, and participants had to report the color of the occluding object. A baseline condition did not require object selection because the objects were identical. A single-cue condition required object selection based on spatial arrangement (i.e., occlusion) because the objects had the same shape.
