As an inhibitor of keratinocyte proliferation and inductor of keratinocyte apoptosis, transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-beta1) has been proposed to play an important role in catagen regulation. SUMMARY To reduce the infectious and immunologic complications of platelet transfusions in patients with hypoproliferative thrombocytopenia, three interventions have aimed to decrease the number of prophylactic platelet transfusions received by such patients for the prevention of bleeding.
