Cherleria sedoides L. (Minuartia sedoides (L.) Hiern) is a montane perennial which, with some species in Minuartia sect. Spectabiles, is more closely related to Scleranthus than to other Minuartia species and is therefore best restored to the reinstated and redefined genus Cherleria. Reconstruction of the ancestral area of the clade containing C. sedoides suggests that it evolved in the Alps or the Balkan peninsula. The species now has an unusual distribution, being present in the mountains of southern Europe and Scotland but absent from the Arctic. Isoëtes todaroana (Isoëtaceae, Lycopodiophyta), a New Species from Sicily (Italy)

Isoetes todaroana, a new species from western Sicily (Italy), is described. Morpholog- ical, anatomical and ecological characters are given. The main differential characters are the presence of only two leaf air chambers, rather than four as in all other known species of the genus, and the shape of the scales, which have two lateral rounded lobes and one central spine-like lobe, together with its peculiar calcophilic habitat. So far, the species is known from a single locality.

This first systematic account of the scarcely studied Miocene cetaceans from Portugal describes 17 previously unpublished odontocete specimens from the Lower Tagus Basin. Chorebus affiniformis, C. dentisignatus and C. granulosus, three species of Dacnusini from Spain, are described as new and are compared with allied species of the genus. Keys for their discrimination are provided.

A revision of genus Xyalaspis (Hymenoptera: Anacharitinae) in Asia is given. Xyalaspis lituricis Belizin, 1965 is synonymized with Xyalaspis hyalina Belizin, 1951. Four new species are described: Xyalaspis esbelta n. sp., Xyalaspis dimorphica n. sp., Xyalaspis orientalis n. sp., and Xyalaspis siamensis n. sp. Diagnostic characters are illustrated and data about biology, distribution and morphological variability of the studied species are discussed. A key to the Asian species of this genus is included.

The genus Syncrasis Foerster, 1862 as subgenus Eusyncrasis Tobias, 1986 is recorded for the first time in the fauna of Spain. A key to subgenera, and a detailed redescription of Syncrasis (Eusyncrasis) talitzkii Tobias, 1986 on the basis of Spanish material collected by а Malaise trap in the Alicante Province, are provided.

ABSTRACT A revision of Xyalaspis Hartig, 1843 (Hymenoptera: Anacharitinae) in the Western Palaearctic region is given. Xyalaspis spinigera Reinhard, 1860 and Xyalaspis subulifera (Thomson, 1862) are synonymized with Xyalaspis laevigata Hartig, 1843 and Xyalaspis rugosa Hartig, 1843 respectively, and their distribution areas are extended. AbstractFive species of spirotrichonymphids representing three genera have been studied by light and immunofluorescence microscopy, and by transmission electron microscopy. The genus Spirotrichonympha, represented by S. flagellata from Reticulitermes grassei, is characterized by a compound axostyle composed of several fibers or subaxostyles. The aim of this short note is to create a new name of this genus since the original name Linaresia proved to pre-exist in the paleontological literature ( Linaresia de Zulueta, 1908, Family Lamippidae, Copepod crustaceans, and Linaresia Gonzalez-Donoso, 1968, Family Gavelinellidae, Agglutinated Foraminifera). The new name created for the above mentioned radiolarians is: Sella . This name derives from an arbitrary combination of letters (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature). The type species of Sella is S. beniderkoulensis by original designation (El Kadiri, 1992).
