Well-preserved MIS 5.5 terraces in Sicily are identified primarily by the index fossil Strombus bubonius, and dated by amino acid racemization (AAR), electron spin resonance (ESR), Uranium/Thorium (U/Th) and thermo luminescence (TL) methods. This review of published data and new results for the island of Sicily and neighbouring small islands of Egadi, Ustica and Lampedusa identifies areas of rapid uplift in the east (up to +175 m, elevation above sea level), slower uplift in the north (+29 m), and relative stability in the northwest (+2/+18 m). Since then, historians of science have sought to understand the impact of geography on the practice, organisation and diffusion of scientific knowledge. In this paper, I look into the organisation of amateur science in provincial England through the scales of local, regional and national. Starting from the concept of "risk" and opposing it with that of "hazard", the text introduces the investigation work and the interactive proposals developed during and following the experience of the "Laboratorio del Cammino" which in 2021 crossed the shrinking territories of the Turin and Biella provinces.
Provincial Scientific Societies and Publishing: Centre and Peripheries of Publishing Science in late Victorian Britain

Publishing, albeit in many cases irregular, became one of the main activities of provincial scientific societies from the 1860s. In this way, the natural history societies and field clubs contributed to the inflation of scientific publications were thought to disrupt the progress of science. As a remedy, the creation of regional and regular periodicals instead of the publishing by individual societies was suggested. The appearance of the regional federations of natural history societies in the 1870s shows that the need to publish became even greater.
