Vegetation Optical Depth (VOD) at L-band is highly sensitive to the water content and above-ground biomass of vegetation. Hence, it has great potential for monitoring crop phenology and for providing crop yield forecasts. Recently, the Multi-Temporal Dual Channel Algorithm (MT -DCA) has been proposed to retrieve L-band VOD from Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) measurements. Automatic cloud masking of Earth observation images is one of the first required steps in optical remote sensing data processing since the operational use and product generation from satellite image time series might be hampered by undetected clouds. The high temporal revisit of current and forthcoming missions and the scarcity of labeled data force us to cast cloud screening as an unsupervised change detection problem in the temporal domain. The scientific community requires long-term data records with well-characterized uncertainty and suitable for modeling terrestrial ecosystems and energy cycles at regional and global scales. This paper presents the methodology currently developed in EUMETSAT within its Satellite Application Facility for Land Surface Analysis (LSA SAF) to generate biophysical variables from the Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) on board MSG 1-4 (Meteosat 8-11) geostationary satellites. In Switzerland, Opalinus Clay shale has been selected as the host formation for radioactive waste disposal. The minimum required depth of the repository is related to the long-lasting isolation required for the disposal (1 million years). During this period, possible erosion scenarios affecting the repository need to be analysed. Opalinus Clay from shallow depths (< 70 m) was sourced from a borehole in Northern Switzerland, where the formation was affected by a considerable exhumation process. L’articolo riporta e analizza i risultati del censimento dell’offerta formativa nel settore della Geomatica promosso nel 2011 dall’AUTeC. I dati vengono confrontati con quelli relativi al censimento del 2009; il confronto conferma la tendenza alla riduzione dell’offerta, in relazione soprattutto all’applicazione del nuovo ordinamento didattico e alla contrazione del numero dei docenti negli ultimi anni. Vengono presentate in conclusione alcune proposte per trovare spazi adeguati alla attività formativa del nostro settore.
