David George’s Nightscapes: Interartial Sanctuaries of Darkness

2019

Microduplications At 22q11.21 are Associated with Classic Bladder Exstrophy

2010

Purpose Classic exstrophy of the bladder (CBE) is part of the exstrophy-epispadias complex (EEC), a spectrum of urogenital anomalies in which part or all of the distal urinary tract fails to close. Familial occurrence has been observed, and previous studies have suggested an underlying multifactorial mode of inheritance. To date, no causative genetic or non-genetic factor has been unequivocally identified in humans. The present study aimed to identify microaberrations characterized by loss or gain of genomic material that contribute to the EEC at a genome-wide level. Material and Methods Molecular karyotyping, utilizing 549,839 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with an average spacing …

La ragazza nera alla ricerca di Dio

2020

The volume offers the Italian public a new translation of George Bernard Shaw's novella, The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God (1932), with its facing-page original. In the novella contemporary readers will find the innovative figuration of a young black woman who, along her personal search for God, deconstructs the false myths of the great religions and of European civilization with iconoclastic force, uncovering their contradictions with geopolitical far-sightedness.

George Canning: un Tory dalla politica progressista

2020

An analysis of the premiership of George Canning, appointed on 10 April 1827, and an examination of his education and his political career before and after Pitt, paying close attention to his standing in govern…

Il Cabinet d'amateur di Georges Perec

2011

In 1979 one year after the publication of La vie mode d’emploi, George Perec wrote Cabinet d’amateur. Histoire d’un tableau, in which he tells the story of a painting belonging to the genre of the cabinet d’amateur, also known as kunst- und wunderkammer. It is a collection of different paintings, usually belonging to a rich man or a notable, portrayed (once again) in a single picture celebrating the magnificence of this more or less real collection. As for the pictorial genre, so the short novel is the celebration of the images collected by George Perec in his previous masterpiece, La vie mode d’emploi. This is why I assume this work to be referable to the genre of structural homology more …

Resisting Bodies: Power Crisis / Meaning Crisis in the Zombie Film from 1932 to Today

2011

Critics have repeatedly focused on the political subtexts of the living dead films of George A. Romero, revealing, notably, how they reflect specific social concerns. In order to determine what makes the zombie movie and the figure of the zombie so productive of political readings, this article examines, first, the classic zombie movies influenced by voodoo lore, then Romero’s initial living dead trilogy (1968-1985), and finally some of the most successful films released in the 2000s. Resorting to a post-structuralist framework including Althusser’s notions of state apparatuses, Foucault’s distinction between subjection and subjectification, and Butler’s analyses of subversive resignificati…
