This article focuses on Goethe’s specific concept of drawing as it appears to the reader through the pages of his Italian journey. A fundamental role is played in this discourse by Christoph Heinrich Kniep, a young German draughtsman who has been recommended to Goethe by his friend, the painter Tischbein, and who accompanied the poet during his trip to Sicily. The key function of Kniep’s linear drawings was to create a visual archive destined to keep memory of his experience for future times, free from picturesque effects and potentially capable to force the recipient’s imagination. Nel 1567 a Londra, M. Parker, arcivescovo di Canterbury, cura l'edizione a stampa del primo testo anglosassone. Si tratta di un'omelia di Aelfric (X sec.) abate di Eynsham e illustre rappresentante della rinascita benedettina anglosassone. La scelta di dare alle stampe, accompagnato da una traduzione e da un'introduzione, quest'omelia sul mistero eucaristico, si inserisce nelle attività di propaganda della nuova chiesa anglicana, alla ricerca di una legittimazione storica e dottrinaria.

The paper examines an entry of the Harley Glossary going back to a period between the second half of the 10th and the first half of the 11th century AD. Once the source has been found from which the lemma was taken, the Latin interpretation qualifies as a Latin calque from Old-English.

Il saggio esamina l’interpolazione di tre brani tratti dal Fisiologo (i capitoli dell’Idra, della Pantera e della Fenice) all’interno del poemetto sui “Quindici segni premonitori del Giudizio Universale” tràdito nel ms. München, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Cgm 717. Si tratta di un fenomeno eccezionale di contaminazione tra il genere dei Bestiari e quello della letteratura escatologica e che non ha confronti con nessuna altra versione della leggenda dei segni del Giudizio. Glossing the Old Frisian Psalter: Pragmatics and Competence

The essay takes into examination the interlinear glosses in Old Frisian in the fragment of Psalter in ms. Groningen, Universiteitsbibliotheek 404. This is the oldest medieval Frisian fragmentary codex to survive and contains verses of Psalms XVII, XXVII, and XVIII, accompanied by glosses in the vernacular. This essay is the first lengthy study specifically devoted to the typology of the glosses themselves and their peculiarities (within the field of interlinear glosses). On close inspection, the OF glosses show a large internal coherence and individual quality.
