Performance analysis of the closed loop supply chain

2012

Purpose The question of resource scarcity and emerging pressure of environmental legislations has brought a new challenge for the manufacturing industry. On the one hand, there is a huge population that demands a large quantity of commodities; on the other hand, these demands have to be met by minimum resources and pollution. Resource conservative manufacturing (ResCoM) is a proposed holistic concept to manage these challenges. The successful implementation of this concept requires cross functional collaboration among relevant fields, and among them, closed loop supply chain is an essential domain. The paper aims to highlight some misconceptions concerning the closed loop supply chain, to d…

The impact of COVID-19 on the practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in the United States and Canada.

2022

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted the delivery of healthcare, including oral healthcare services. The restrictions imposed for mitigating spread of the virus forced dental practitioners to adopt significant changes in their workflow pattern. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the pandemic on the practice of oral and maxillofacial pathology in two countries in regard to educational activities, and clinical and diagnostic pathology services. An online questionnaire was distributed to oral and maxillofacial pathologists in the United States and Canada. The survey was designed by combining dichotomous, multiple choice, and Likert response scale questions. Stat…

A Non-linear Diffeomorphic Framework for Prostate Multimodal Registration

2011

International audience; This paper presents a novel method for non-rigid registration of prostate multimodal images based on a nonlinear framework. The parametric estimation of the non-linear diffeomorphism between the 2D fixed and moving images has its basis in solving a set of non-linear equations of thin-plate splines. The regularized bending energy of the thin-plate splines along with the localization error of established correspondences is jointly minimized with the fixed and transformed image difference; where, the transformed image is represented by the set of non-linear equations defined over the moving image. The traditional thin-plate splines with established correspondences may p…

Design of a Neural Network Model as a Decision Making Aid in Renal Transplant

2004

This paper presents the application of this new tool of data processing in the study of the problem that arises when a renal transplant is indicated for a paediatric patient. Its aim is the development and validation of a neural network based model which can predict the success of the transplant over the short, medium and long term, using pre-operative characteristics of the patient (recipient) and implant organ (donor). When compared to results of logistic regression, the results of the proposed model showed better performance. Once the model is obtained, it will be converted into a tool for predicting the efficiency of the transplant protocol in order to optimise the donor-recipient pair …

Individual participant data systematic reviews with meta-analyses of psychotherapies for borderline personality disorder: A protocol

2020

AbstractIntroductionThe heterogeneity in people with BPD and the range of specialised psychotherapies means that people with certain BPD characteristics might benefit more or less from different types of psychotherapy. Identifying moderating characteristics of individuals is a key to refine and tailor standard treatments so they match the specificities of the individual patient. The objective of this is to improve the quality of care and the individual outcomes. Thus, the aim of the current reviews is to investigate potential predictors and moderating patient characteristics on treatment outcomes for patients with BPD.Methods and analysisOur primary meta-analytic method will be the one-stag…

Attitudes Toward Artificial Intelligence Among Radiologists, IT Specialists, and Industry

2020

Objectives We investigated the attitudes of radiologists, information technology (IT) specialists, and industry representatives on artificial intelligence (AI) and its future impact on radiological work. Materials and Methods During a national meeting for AI, eHealth, and IT infrastructure in 2019, we conducted a survey to obtain participants’ attitudes. A total of 123 participants completed 28 items exploring AI usage in medicine. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to identify differences between radiologists, IT specialists, and industry representatives. Results The strongest agreement between all respondents occurred with the following: plausibility checks are important to understand the d…

Similar subjective response and adherence rates for long-acting risperidone and conventional depots

2008

Background and Aims:Amongst oral antipsychotics, tolerance and adherence are thought to be higher with atypicals versus conventional agents. Fewer data exist for parenteral antipsychotics regarding the atypical–conventional comparison.Aim:to compare adherence rates and subjective response between long-acting risperidone (LAR) and conventional depots.Methods:Cross-sectional, naturalistic, one-site study of all outpatients with severe mental disorders treated with injectable antipsychotics over a 12–month period at one Spanish mental health unit. Different sets of broadly– and narrowly–defined criteria for adherence were calculated from mental health nurse´s registry data. Patients´ subjectiv…

Changes in mental health during three waves of the COVID-19 pandemic: a repeated cross-sectional study among Polish university students

2021

Abstract Background Research indicates that mental health worsened during the Coronavirus crisis, in particular among women and university students. However, few longitudinal studies have so far investigated the changes in mental health outcomes across three subsequent waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to examine changes in mental health among university students. Methods A total of 1,961university students from Poland, at mean age 23.23 years (SD = 3.16, 57.47% of women) were included in this repeated cross-sectional study across three waves of the COVID-19 pandemic: W1 (n = 657), W2 (n = 654), and W3 (n = 650). They completed the online survey with the Generalized…
