Corner and junction detection is an important preprocessing step in image registration, data fusion, object recognition, and many other tasks. This work deals with corner and junction detection of characteristic features of the structure resulting from cross-pattern projection. The ultimate aim is to adapt the positions and orientation of the cross-pattern projections to what has been observed. Forward logistic regression for earth-flow landslide susceptibility assessment in the Platani river basin (southern Sicily, Italy)

Forward logistic regression has allowed us to derive an earth-flow susceptibility model for the Tumarrano river basin, which was defined by modeling the statistical relationships between an archive of 760 events and a set of 20 predictors. For each landslide in the inventory, a landslide identification point (LIP) was automatically produced as corresponding to the highest point along the boundary of the landslide polygons, and unstable conditions were assigned to cells at a distance up to 8 m. Although being very different from each other, the figures of Mastrillo and Rao share the same social belonging and the same legal culture: both are representatives of the social class of Sicilian magistrates, whose historical reality must be considered in all its complexity.

Relevance of trade facilitation in emerging countries exports

The objective of this article is to analyse trade flows in emerging nations with a maritime boundary, where trade facilitation plays a decisive role in their international development. In order to detect possible patterns in performance, we apply the economic approach of gravity models using the World Bank Logistic Performance Index (LPI) as a good proxy of trade facilitation. The results of the estimation lead to the conclusion that the more complex the transportation of goods is, the more influential the logistics indicator, trade facilitation being most prominent in Middle East exporters.
