On the discrete linear ill‐posed problems

An inverse problem of photo‐acoustic spectroscopy of semiconductors is investigated. The main problem is formulated as the integral equation of the first kind. Two different regularization methods are applied, the algorithms for defining regularization parameters are given. Parallel distance transforms on pyramid machines: Theory and implementation

Abstract A distance transform of a binary image is an array each of whose elements gives the distance from the corresponding pixel to the closest ‘1’ in the binary image. Distance transforms have uses in image matching and shape analysis, among other applications. We present a parallel algorithm for weighted distance transforms that runs particularly efficiently on hierarchical cellular-logic machines, a subclass of the architectures known as pyramid machines. The algorithm computes the 3–4 distance transform; however it can be readily adapted to the city-block (‘Manhattan’) and chessboard distance measures. Hepatotoxicity caused by mebendazole in a patient with Gilbert's syndrome

What is known and objective Mebendazole (MBZ) is a broad-spectrum antihelminthic agent of the benzimidazole type. Although MBZ has been reported to cause hepatic injury, case reports of severe hepatic injury are very rare. We report a case of severe hepatitis after administration of MBZ in a patient with Gilbert's syndrome affected by pinworms infestation. Case summary Differently from other cases of hepatitis due to MBZ reported in the scientific literature, our patient received standard doses of MBZ for a short period of time. La Esferocitosis Hereditaria (EH) es la anemia hemolítica crónica más frecuente en el mundo. Se produce por una alteración de las proteínas de membrana del eritrocito, lo que le confiere una menor capacidad para deformarse al hematíe y por tanto una vida media más corta. La hemólisis crónica mantenida produce anemia, ictericia y esplenomegalia. La EH se puede dividir en grupos según su gravedad (leve, moderado, grave) en función de sus valores de hemoglobina, reticulocitos y bilirrubina. La enfermedad de Gilbert se produce por una disminución de la glucuronización de la bilirrubina, produciendo un aumento de bilirrubina e ictericia clínica.
