Quenched and annealed free energies
1984
This paper gives a simple exposition of the Nishimori method to solve certain quenched, random bond spin-glass models. It allows a transparent physical interpretation in terms of annealed systems. As an application a special solution of the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model with a discrete probability distribution is obtained and shown to agree with the solution for the Gaussian case. This substantiates the claim that the averaged free energy does not depend on the details of the probability distribution Expose simple de la methode de Nishimori pour resoudre certains modeles de verres de spin avec interactions aleatoires. Interpretation transparente en termes de systemes recuits. Presentation d…
JIMWLK and beyond: From concepts to observables
2016
Volume: 112 Host publication title: 6th International Conference on Physics Opportunities at an Electron-Ion Collider The Color Glass Condensate and its associated evolution equation, the JIMWLK equation have applications to many observables far beyond totally inclusive observables. The phenomenology is so rich that little has been done to explore beyond scaling behavior of correlators. We show first examples that exemplify the considerations necessary to access additional information both experimentally and theoretically and demonstrate that the Wilson line correlators appearing throughout make it imperative to consistently take into account that one is dealing with correlators of group el…
Effect of Core–Shell Rubber Nanoparticles on the Mechanical Properties of Epoxy and Epoxy-Based CFRP
2022
This research was funded by M-Era.Net project MERF “Matrix for carbon reinforced epoxy laminates with reduced flammability” grant No. 1.1.1.5/ERANET/20/04 from the Latvian State Education Development Agency and M-Era.Net project “EPIC—European Partnership for Improved Composites“ funded by grant No. TH06020001. A.S., K.S. and A.Z. are grateful to funding received from the European Union Horizon 2020 Framework program H2020-WIDESPREAD-01-2016-2017-TeamingPhase2 under grant agreement No. 739508, project CAMART2.
Thermoluminescence response of sodalime glass irradiated with photon and electron beams in the 1-20 Gy range
2011
Abstract The thermoluminescence response of a watch commercial glass was studied after irradiation with photons and electrons, in the range 1–20 Gy, of interest in accidental dosimetry; a linear response was obtained with both beams. This result, together with the satisfactory time stability of the thermoluminescence signal, indicates this glass as a potential material for retrospective dosimetry applications.
IMI Prevention of Myopia and Its Progression
2021
The prevalence of myopia has markedly increased in East and Southeast Asia, and pathologic consequences of myopia, including myopic maculopathy and high myopia-associated optic neuropathy, are now some of the most common causes of irreversible blindness. Hence, strategies are warranted to reduce the prevalence of myopia and the progression to high myopia because this is the main modifiable risk factor for pathologic myopia. On the basis of published population-based and interventional studies, an important strategy to reduce the development of myopia is encouraging schoolchildren to spend more time outdoors. As compared with other measures, spending more time outdoors is the safest strategy…
Multimetallic Oxynitrides Nanoparticles for a New Generation of Photocatalysts
2019
A versatile synthetic strategy for the preparation of multimetallic oxynitrides has been designed and here exemplarily discussed considering the preparation of nanoscaled zinc-gallium oxynitrides and zinc-gallium-indium oxynitrides, two important photocatalysts of new generation, which proved to be active in key energy related processes from pollutant decomposition to overall water splitting. The synthesis presented here allows the preparation of small nanoparticles (less than 20 nm in average diameter), well-defined in size and shape, yet highly crystalline and with the highest surface area reported so far (up to 80 m2 g-1 ). X-ray diffraction studies show that the final material is not a…
Electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic with nanomodified matrix for damage diagnostic
2021
The electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) with epoxy matrix modified by multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was studied. The electrical conductivity of nanomodified lamina and multi-layered GFRP was investigated on several levels using a structural approach. Components of the electrical conductivity tensor for unidirectional-reinforced monolayer were calculated similarly as in micromechanics using the conductivity of the nanomodified matrix. The electrical conductivity of multilayer composite was calculated using laminate theory and compared with values measured experimentally for various fiber orientation angles. Calculated and experimental data were in good agree…
