2010
In this paper our objective is to understand the process of emergence in the study of social behaviours evolution with a learning model. In Previous work we determined the conditions that favour the perpetuity of the Capitalist Globalization, the possibility of its overcoming with a Free Scientific Society and the possibility of the Ecological Hecatomb. In this paper we have theoretically explained the emergence of the anomalous behaviours and developed statistical studies of the conditions that favour t…

Industry Reallocations in a Globalizing Economy
2007
We distill the main insights from recent trade models on firms' responses to globalization. Our primary aim is to assess the economic impact and the welfare implications of the resulting reallocation of resources across firms and countries. In so doing, we bring theory into life through the numerical implementation of a theoretical framework calibrated on European data, which encompasses aspects of economic geography, firm heterogeneity, and firms' organizational choices. Our final purpose is to provide a comprehensive background for empirical investigations and to stimulate further theoretical research.

2010
Software development has become a global task for the past decades. Outsourcing and offshoring solutions have been discussed frequently, in both research and in industry. Export is the main driver for a society’s and corresponding individual’s wealth. As more and more organizations apply outsourcing and offshoring practices, new ways have to be found to compete in this rapidly changing environment. Additionally, the digital divide is becoming a central issue, determining the relation of developed and developing countries.

The validity of the outcome is confirmed through a mixed method of document analysis and expert interviews by analyzing and …
ERP systems in SMEs: A literature review
2011
Published version of a chapter in Proceedings of the 44th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. Also available from the publisher: http://doi.dx.org/10.1109/HICSS.2011.191 This review summarizes research on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). Moreover, because of globalization, partnerships, value networks, and the huge information flow across and within SMEs nowadays, more and more SMEs are adopting ERP systems. Risks of adoption rely on the fact that SMEs have limited resources and specific characteristics that ma…

Globalization of Corporate Governance: The American Influence on Dismissal Performance Sensitivity of European CEOs
2010
This study examines how globalization of corporate governance practices influence the risk of European CEOs being dismissed. We argue that the harsh monitoring of the American corporate governance system spills over to the rest of the world as a result of this globalization. We focus on direct and indirect American influence on the dismissal performance sensitivity among the 250 largest European publicly listed firms. The indirect influence is assumed to materialize via European firms cross-listing on U.S. exchanges, whereas the direct influence is assumed to appear as a result of European firms hiring of American independent board members. Both sources of influence are hypothesized to resu…
