Precipitable water vapour content from ESR/SKYNET sun-sky radiometers: validation against GNSS/GPS and AERONET over three different sites in Europe

2018

The estimation of the precipitable water vapour content (W) with high temporal and spatial resolution is of great interest to both meteorological and climatological studies. Several methodologies based on remote sensing techniques have been recently developed in order to obtain accurate and frequent measurements of this atmospheric parameter. Among them, the relative low cost and easy deployment of sun–sky radiometers, or sun photometers, operating in several international networks, allowed the development of automatic estimations of W from these instruments with high temporal resolution. However, the great problem of this methodology is the estimation of the sun-photometric calibration par…

Non-tidal loading of the Baltic Sea in Latvian GNSS time series

2021

Abstract The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the Baltic Sea non-tidal loading in the territory of Latvia using observations of the GNSS continuously operating reference stations (CORS) of LatPos, EUPOS®-Riga, EPN and EstPos networks. The GNSS station daily coordinate time series obtained in a double-difference (DD) mode were used. For representation of the sea level dynamics, the Latvian tide gauge records were used. Performed correlation analysis is based on yearly data sets of these observations for the period from 2012 up to 2020. The approach discloses how the non-tidal loading can induce variations in the time series of the regional GNSS station network. This pa…

A software receiver phase lock loop analysis and design to implement adaptive phase tracking using a finite impulse response loop filter

2009

In this paper we analyze the design of a digital Phase Lock Loop (PLL) for a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) software receiver. Even if the topic of phase tracking has been widely studied, we found it useful to provide a short walkthrough for the design of a PLL in a real software receiver, avoiding to introduce the common theoretical phase-based model and aiming to the practical implementation of a system that deals with frequencies. Nonetheless, our analysis and design will grow away from the canonical approach, in the way that we will not resort to analog filter theory. The result is a PLL which is more reactive than the ones usually found in literature and that implements a si…

Phase lock loop false lock avoidance in presence of global navigation satellite system signal

2009

In this paper we analyse the operation of a fully digital Phase Lock Loop (PLL) in a false lock regime, using real data. The issue has been noticed while we were testing performance of our software receiver in a moving user scenario. While the phenomenon of false lock has been described in other papers about PLLs, our intent is to describe a practical, and in our opinion interesting, issue we encountered and how we got over it.

PRECISIONE E RIPETIBILITÀ IN RILIEVI NRTK REALIZZATI NELLA RETE GNSS DELL’UNIVERSITÀ DI PALERMO

2008

Digital zenith camera of the University of Latvia

2016

Design of digital zenith camera in Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of the University of Latvia started in 2009. Now, after tests of a prototype, improvements of design and manufacturing of the second version, it has reached operational status. The paper describes construction of camera, features of it‘s control software. Vertical deflection determination results are discussed.
