Mitochondrial DNA distributions indicate colony propagation by single matri-lineages in the social spider Stegodyphus dumicola (Eresidae)

Colony-dwelling social spiders of the genus Stegodyphus are characterized by high colony turnover, within-colony mating, inbreeding and skewed sex ratios. These phenomena may purge genetic variation from the entire species gene pool. Social Stegodyphus have previously been discussed as ecologically unstable and evolutionary dead ends. We investigated the distribution and age (sequence divergence) of mitochondrial DNA variation for inferences of colony propagation, colony discreteness and maintenance of genetic variation in the social spider S. dumicola. We have cloned from a cDNA library of neuronal derivatives of retinoic-acid-induced embryonic carcinoma cells a nuclear receptor that may be involved in the control of late neurogenesis and early neuronal differentiation. The receptor which is practically identical in sequence with germ cell nuclear factor, has been designated neuronal cell nuclear factor (NCNF). NCNF is exclusively expressed in the neuronal derivatives of PCC7-Mz1 cells, with the expression beginning within hours of exposure to retinoic acid. Role for calnexin and N-linked glycosylation in the assembly and secretion of hepatitis B virus middle envelope protein particles.

ABSTRACT Unlike those of the S and the L envelope proteins, the functional role of the related M protein in the life cycle of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) is less understood. We now demonstrate that a single N glycan, specific for M, is required for efficient secretion of M empty envelope particles. Moreover, this glycan mediates specific association of M with the chaperone calnexin. Conversely, the N glycan, common to all three envelope proteins, is involved neither in calnexin binding nor in subviral particle release. As proper folding and trafficking of M need the assistance of the chaperone, the glycan-dependent association of M with calnexin may thus play a crucial role in the assembly …

L'art. 23 del d.l. 12-9-2014, n. 133, c.d. «Sblocca Italia», introduce la figura del rent to buy, con cui mediante un contratto di godimento si realizza un programma preparatorio a una successiva alienazione immobiliare. L'esame degli aspetti disciplinati - prima dell'entrata in vigore della legge di conversione - rivela a contrario l'ampio spazio riservato all'autonomia privata, che nonostante qualche criticità conferma l'appetibilità del nuovo modello contrattuale.

It aimed at presenting the Orthodox nuns path from a “prodigal intellectual” towards divinization. Mather Marias literary, artistic and social activity, which led to her death in a crematory furnace, is a perfect example of how to live a creative life which leads to Godmanhood.
