Lekcja religii szansą dla ewangelizacji
2018
There is a constant need to preach the Gospel to young people in the Church. The Church wants to realize and identify the most effective ways to proclaim the Good News to the next generations. The lesson of religious education can become a place to preach the Good News. Evangelizers can revitalize the school environment through such content, such methods and such dynamics that are inspired by the Spirit of God. Various models of evangelization have been present in the Church since ancient times. This evangelization has always derived from the Word of God. The contemporary evangelist should first realize the situation in which he announces the Word of God and later should use the most approp…

Gospelmūzikas tradīcija Latvijā
2017
Mūzika ir viens no pirmatnējiem komunikācijas veidiem cilvēku starpā.

The Text of the Lord’s Prayer in Marcion’s Gospel
2012
In text-critical studies of the Lukan version of the Lord’s Prayer (Lk 11,2-4), one of the most interesting, and at the same time most problematic, witnesses is Marcion’s Gospel. Scholarship for much of the twentieth century has generally followed the reconstruction of Adolf von Harnack in his magisterial work on Marcion: ... (και) μή άφeς ημάς eίσeνeχθήναι eις πeιρασμόν.1 As a result, it has more or less been assumed that this was the wording of the Lord’s Prayer in Marcion’s text.2 A major problem with th…
“Let Me Have Claudio’s Head”
2016

In an attempt to produce a reconstruction of the genealogy of the sources, this essay investigates the relationship between Measure for Measure and the Gospel of Matthew, examining in particular the possibility that the episode related to Claudio’s supposed beheading is somehow associated with the death of John the Baptist, as recorded in Matthew 14:1-12. In Shakespeare as well as in the Evangelist’s text, the request for the head is charged with a highly symbolic value: it is a visualization of the triumph, the gift that the instigator makes to his own superiority, a narcissistic gratification. It is an expression of personal affir…
The ‘Unglossed’ Words of the Lindisfarne Glosses
2016
The Old English glosses to the Gospels in London, British Library, MS Cotton Nero D.iv represent one of the largest interlinear apparatuses to a single Latin text in the vernacular. However, about one thousand words of the Latin text are left unglossed both in the Gospels and the prefatory material. The largest number of omissions concern proper names (personal names, place-names and ethnonyms), but also words such as camelus or ventilabrum were left unglossed whether always or just sometimes. This paper investigates the number and the distribution of these unglossed terms as well as their nature.
