Probabilities to Accept Languages by Quantum Finite Automata

We construct a hierarchy of regular languages such that the current language in the hierarchy can be accepted by 1-way quantum finite automata with a probability smaller than the corresponding probability for the preceding language in the hierarchy. These probabilities converge to 1/2.

A Constructive Minimal Integral which Includes Lebesgue Integrable Functions and Derivatives

In this paper we provide a minimal constructive integration process of Riemann type which includes the Lebesgue integral and also integrates the derivatives of differentiable functions. We provide a new solution to the classical problem of recovering a function from its derivative by integration, which, unlike the solution provided by Denjoy, Perron and many others, does not possess the generality which is not needed for this purpose.The descriptive version of the problem was treated by A. Martingale Convergence Theorems and Their Applications

We became familiar with martingales X=(X n ) n∈N0 as fair games and found that under certain transformations (optional stopping, discrete stochastic integral) martingales turn into martingales. In this chapter, we will see that under weak conditions (non-negativity or uniform integrability) martingales converge almost surely. Furthermore, the martingale structure implies L p -convergence under assumptions that are (formally) weaker than those of Chapter 7. The basic ideas of this chapter are Doob’s inequality (Theorem 11.4) and the upcrossing inequality (Lemma 11.3).

We apply three-dimensional (3-D) thermo-mechanical numerical simulations of the shortening of the upper crustal region of a passive margin in order to investigate the control of 3-D laterally variable inherited structures on fold-and-thrust belt evolution and associated nappe formation. AbstractThis study reports on a ~ 150 m thick macrofossil-barren sequence of siliciclastic sediments from a Burdigalian age (Early Miocene) freshwater lake. The lake was located within an incipient rift system of the Most Basin in the Ohře (Eger) Graben, which was part of the European Cenozoic Rift System, and had an original area of ≈ 1000 km2. Sediments from the HK591 core that cover the entire thickness of the lake deposits and some of the adjacent stratigraphic units were analysed by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (a proxy for element composition) and magnetic polarity measurement. Pricing of forwards and other derivatives in cointegrated commodity markets

Abstract We analyze cointegration in commodity markets, and propose a parametric class of pricing measures which preserves cointegration for forward prices with fixed time to maturity. We present explicit expressions for the term structure of volatility and correlation in the context of our spot price models based on continuous-time autoregressive moving average dynamics for the stationary components. The term structures have many interesting shapes, and we provide some empirical evidence from refined oil future prices at NYMEX defending our modeling idea. Soliton Solutions with Real Poles in the Alekseev formulation of the Inverse-Scattering method

A new approach to the inverse-scattering technique of Alekseev is presented which permits real-pole soliton solutions of the Ernst equations to be considered. This is achieved by adopting distinct real poles in the scattering matrix and its inverse. For the case in which the electromagnetic field vanishes, some explicit solutions are given using a Minkowski seed metric. The relation with the corresponding soliton solutions that can be constructed using the Belinskii-Zakharov inverse-scattering technique is determined.
