Service discovery protocols in D2D-enabled cellular networks: Reactive versus proactive
2014
Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, which allows access services offered by nearby devices bypassing the base station, has been regarded as an essential component of the emerging 5G mobile networks. Many advantages can be provided by this direct communication paradigm such as high data rate, traffic offloading, range extension, as well as proximity services and social networking. In such a context, service discovery approaches need to be investigated. In this paper, we propose two protocols for service discovery, namely, reactive (pull) discovery and proactive (push) discovery in infrastructure-coordinated D2D networks. The protocol overhead is calculated and numerical results are provide…
A comparison of deontic matrices, maps and activity diagrams for the construction of situational methods
2007
Several approaches have been proposed to support situational method engineering (SME), each of them providing different techniques and using different basic concepts. In this work, we propose a framework for comparing SME approaches based on a generic SME process model. Three approaches are presented and compared by using this framework.
Micro-investment perspective and the potential of the universal basic income
2018
In this article, we explore the prospects of Basic Income (BI) as a development policy tool. Our approach is to analyse the BI as a tool for promoting micro-investments and as a general development policy instrument, thus deliberately departing from the perception of cash transfers as targeted poverty reduction tools. As experiences in testing BI systems in developing country contexts are limited to local and regional experiments in Namibia and India (Haarmann et al., 2009; Haarmann & Haarmann, 2012; Davala et al., 2015), conclusive assessments about the impacts of the BI cannot be drawn. Therefore, we aim to estimate potential impacts of the BI by synthesising existing knowledge. This esti…
Ab Initio Study of BiFeO3: Thermodynamic Stability Conditions
2015
BiFeO3 is investigated intensively, mainly as a multiferroic material. In this paper, the state-of-the-art ab initio hybrid functional approach with atomic basis sets was employed for a study of the stability range of BiFeO3 with respect to its decomposition into binary oxides and elementary metals, as a function of temperature and oxygen partial pressure. The calculated atomic and electronic structure of BiFeO3 was compared with previous LDA+U calculations using plane-wave basis sets. Based on performed calculations, the phase diagram was constructed, which allows us to predict the stability region of stoichiometric BiFeO3.
Q-Chem 2.0: a high-performanceab initio electronic structure program package
2000
ABSTRACT: Q-Chem 2.0 is a new release of an electronic structure programpackage, capable of performing first principles calculations on the ground andexcited states of molecules using both density functional theory and wavefunction-based methods. A review of the technical features contained withinQ-Chem 2.0 is presented. This article contains brief descriptive discussions of thekey physical features of all new algorithms and theoretical models, together withsample calculations that illustrate their performance. c 2000 John Wiley S electronic structure; density functional theory;computer program; computational chemistry Introduction A reader glancing casually at this article mightsuspect on t…
Simulation analysis of fuel cell integration in a hybrid car
2019
Abstract Fuel cell is one of the green technologies that can help reduce toxic gas and decreasing effect of greenhouse gases in the world. This paper attempts to improve simulation model of fuel cell system that is easy to use and at the same time have an acceptable accuracy. The simulation model is developed through Matlab/Simulink software using Energetic Macroscopic Representation method which accuracy is compared with an established model. Simulation analysis of fuel cell integration is conducted by using experimental data from a real hybrid car. There are two potential types of system that were considered for the hybrid car in term of electricity generation and power produced to move t…
Experimental Evaluation of the Performance of a Three-Phase Five-Level Cascaded H-Bridge Inverter by Means FPGA-Based Control Board for Grid Connecte…
2018
Over the last decades, plants devoted to the generation of green energy significantly increased their number, together with the demand of same electrical energy, also stored in battery systems. This fact produced the growth of energy conversion systems with advanced performances with respect to the traditional ones. In this circumstance, multilevel converters play a significant role for their great advantages in performances, flexibility, fault-tolerability, employment of renewable energy sources and storage systems and finally yet importantly reduced filter requirements. In this context, this paper faces the performance of a cascaded H-bridge 5 level inverter in terms of harmonic distortio…
Characterisation of a commercial automotive lithium ion battery using extended Kalman filter
2013
This paper presents a extented Kalman filter based on a dynamic model of a commercial lithium ion battery pack in automotive applications, and experimental data are collected using the Noao. This vehicle is an electric track with range extender, which has been developed and produced by the association Pole de Performance de Nevers Magny-Cours (PPNMC). This model has been developed with MATLAB/Simulink to investigate the output characteristics of lithium-ion batteries. It incorporates I-V performance of the battery, battery capacity fading, temperature effect on battery performance, and the battery temperature rise. This estimation technique is used in order to estimate some parameters, whic…
A 9-level three-phase multilevel converter with harmonic mitigation and integrated battery balancing
2019
In this paper, a 9 level three-phase multilevel converter with a harmonic mitigation control method and an integrated battery balancing algorithm for automotive purpose is proposed. Each level of the converter is composed by a buck-boost converter and an h-bridge in cascaded connection. The control algorithm is implemented to achieve the harmonic mitigation on the output voltage waveform and to maintain the battery input voltages balanced. The design and operation of the system is described, and simulation study is reported using Matlab/Simulink platform.
Multi Architecture Optimization of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle Using Object-Oriented Programming
2017
This article presents an energetic macroscopic representation multi-architecture model for hybrid vehicles using object-oriented programming. This approach is successfully used to evaluate the power performance and fuel consumption of different vehicles on different driving cycles. An optimization of power source sizing (ICE, EM and Battery) and system control, based on simulation results, is carried. Different architectures are compared for given cycles and optimization of hybrid architecture will also be possible.
