A new tool for assessment of biostimulants effects on grapevine

2018

National audience; Despite an increasing interest for the use of biostimulants (BS) in agriculture, methods allowing a precise description of their effects on plants remain rather limited. In the IRIS+ FUI project, two major and highly different worldwide crops, wheat (annual, monocotyledon) and grapevine (perennial, broadleaf) were chosen to deepen our knowledge of such compounds and explore their potential additional interest. One objective was to develop a tool adapted to the screening and study of the impact of a series of BS on the development and physiology of these crops in controlled conditions. We managed to develop such a tool adapted to grapevine herbaceous cuttings. It allows a …

Imagerie pour les maladies de la vigne

2013

ß-1,4 cellodextrins, ß-1,3 glucans and a-1,4 oligogalacturonides are potent elicitors of various defense-related responses in grapevine

2007

International audience; Plant cell-wall degradation products can be considered as ‘microbe-induced molecular patterns’ (MIMPs) recognized through plant receptors as ‘pathogen-induced modified self’. So cell-wall oligosaccharides originating from plants can play an important role in the perception of the invading pathogen by the plant. Cellodextrins (CD) are the end-products from cellulose degradation in plant cell walls, consisting og a linear ß-(1,4) linked glucose backbone. The role of these oligosaccharides in triggering plant defense reactions has not yet been established. Here, we investigated the elicitor activity of CD oligomers in grapevine cells. We show that CD triggered induction…

Biostimulation of grapevine and wheat : mode of action and possible agronomic uses

2015

SPE IPM UBSPEIPMUB; Downy mildew, caused by Plasmopara viticola, is one of the most important grape pathogen in Europe and North America. Although the control is traditionally performed with fungicides, the appearance of resistant pathogen populations and the possible adverse effects on human and environment health are spurring the search for alternative means. In the present investigation, two protein hydrolysates of soybean (soy) and casein (cas) origin were successfully tested against P. viticola. On Vitis vinifera cv. Marselan plants, the application of soy and cas reduced the infected leaf surface by 76 and 63%, as compared to the untreated control, respectively. Since both hydrolysate…

Impact des maladies du bois sur le fonctionnement de la vigne

2020

Esca complex and Botryosphearia dieback are grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) that cause severe declines in vineyards worldwide and against which the available control strategies are limited. These diseases are due to a complex of woody inhabiting fungi that colonize the perennial organs of grapevine throughout its life, from its production in nursery to the cultivation in the vineyard. The expression of foliar symptoms remains poorly understood and is influenced by many factors including climate, cultural practices and cultivar. In this context, this work aimed to characterize the impact of these two diseases on grapevine, at different spatial and temporal scales, in order to better understa…
