Background: Magna Graecia is the ancient name for the modern geopolitical region of South Italy extensively populated by Greek colonizers, shown by archeological and historical evidence to be the oldest wine growing region of Italy, crucial for the spread of specialized viticulture around Mediterranean shores. Here, the genetic diversity of Magna Graecia grape germplasm was assessed and its role in grapevine propagation around the Mediterranean basin was underlined. The volatile constituents of the aerial parts of Centaurea formanekii Halacsy and the aerial parts, capitula and roots of C. orphanidea Heldr. & Sart. ex Boiss. ssp. thessala (Hausskn.) Dostál from Greece were extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed. The main components in C. formanekii were hexadecanoic acid (13.6%), δ-elemene (9.1%), and spathulenol (6.9%). The main components in C. orphanidea ssp. thessala were γ-elemene (26.1%) and caryophyllene oxide (13.2%) in the aerial parts, hexadecanoic acid (33.5%) and heptacosane (6.3%) in the capitula, and hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (22.0%) and α-chamigrene (14.0%) in the roots. Music in ancient Greece was believed to heal both the soul and the body, and especially to soothe wrath and low spirits. According to the ethos theory, music has a prominent role in the education of the young people. With both its medical and magic connotations, the notion of musical catharsis is involved in the performance of music and dance in the Dionysiac rites. The medical thought on music therapy is mainly linked with theories concerning the pulse, where musicology and medicine share a common ground.

The objective of this paper is dual. The first is to identify the key factors that characterize the most successful organizational models of firms operating in the Greek wine industry. The second is to verify if the adoption of third party certifications influences the firms performance. In particular, paying attention on the internal resources of firms, the Resource based view approach is proposed as theoretical framework. Kali dodecanesicum (Chenopodiaceae, Salsoloideae) a new species from Greece

Kali dodecanesicum, a new species from some islands (i.e. Rhodes, Kos and Nisyros) of the Dodecanese in the south-eastern Aegean (Greece), is described and illustrated. According to recent literature, Kali is treated as a distinct genus from the polyphyletic Salsola s.l., which includes several annual species. The new species is morphologically well separated from the other Kali taxa mainly for the shape of the fruiting perianth, showing closer relationships with Kali ponticum. Its ecological requirements, distribution, and conservation status are also examined, together with an analytic key of the Kali species occurring in the Mediterranean area.

Allium cithaeronis, a new species of A. sect. Scorodon from Greece is described and illustrated. Its chromosome number (2n=16), karyogram, leaf anatomy, ecology, taxonomical relationship are examined. For some morphological features, such as exerted stamens from perigon and tuberculate lobes in the upper part of the ovary,it represents a very isolated species within the A. sect. Scorodon.
