Economical Analysis of Financial Supports for Large-Scale Photovoltaic PV plants in Eastern Europeen Union Countries
2010
Today, photovoltaic (PV) attracts considerable interest among renewable energy sources (RES), because of its potential to significantly contribute to the future of clean energies. However, PV development is strongly related to the support policies introduced by national governments. The modification or fading out of such support schemes can strongly influence the development of the PV market in any given country. Although the PV market in European developing countries is still quite small, it has been growing rapidly in recent years. Until 2006, the installation of small off-grid PV plants prevailed in eastern EU countries. Starting from 2008, large-scale on-grid PV plants have been put int…
A Reinforcement Learning Approach for User Preference-aware Energy Sharing Systems
2021
Energy Sharing Systems (ESS) are envisioned to be the future of power systems. In these systems, consumers equipped with renewable energy generation capabilities are able to participate in an energy market to sell their energy. This paper proposes an ESS that, differently from previous works, takes into account the consumers’ preference, engagement, and bounded rationality. The problem of maximizing the energy exchange while considering such user modeling is formulated and shown to be NP-Hard. To learn the user behavior, two heuristics are proposed: 1) a Reinforcement Learning-based algorithm, which provides a bounded regret and 2) a more computationally efficient heuristic, named BPT- ${K}…
Green calims, green washing and consumer protection in European Union
2021
The purpose of this paper is to offer some reflection on the importance of reliable green claims to encourage sustainable production. The role of market is fundamental. Businesses and consumers are both involved in achieving environmental protection objectives. There is the real risk of the phenomenon of so-called green washing or misleading marketing. The problem arises of verifying the reliability of green claims to prevent competitive elements from become distorting factors of competition.
Parte II Cap. II L'impresa agricola
2021
The chapter covers the multifunctionality of the farmer and the objectives of the new common agricultural policy: 2023-27. Highlighting all those entrepreneurial activities based on an economic-legal model not exclusively oriented towards the productive exploitation of the land and, in general, the activity of putting goods into circulation: Agricultural Enterprise and Sustainability;
Paradossi, intuizioni e metodo
2020
This paper is an introduction to the contemporary debate on population ethics. As it is shown at the beginning, the paradoxes of population ethics do not pose a problem just for Utilitarianism, but also for everyone who shares a set of very common intuitions. Different proposals for a solution are described, each of which proves ineffective. At the end of the paper two different methods of moral reasoning are distinguished depending on whether accepting counter-intuitive conclusions is allowed or not.
Rivoluzione morale. Struttura, limiti e risorse nascoste del progetto filosofico di Joshua Greene
2020
This article analyzes Joshua Greene’s defense of a consequentialist approach to ethics, through a series of debunking arguments targeting characteristically deontological judgments and common-sense intuitions. This project is not new in ethics, but Greene develops his predecessors’ speculations by means of the recent findings in moral psychology. Greene’s conclusion is a moral revolution about the conception of harm and the duties to help strangers. The article focuses also on Frances Kamm and Guy Kahane’s critique to Greene’s theses and method. Kahane’s critique is used to give a subjectivist interpretation of Greene’s account which may constitute an unexplored answer to some methodologica…

Suitability of two rapid lateral flow immunochromatographic assays for predicting SARS‐CoV‐2 neutralizing activity of sera
2020
Purpose: Assessment of commercial SARS-CoV-2 immunoassays for their capacity to provide reliable information on sera neutralizing activity is an emerging need. We evaluated the performance of two commercially-available lateral flow immunochromatographic assays (LFIC) (Wondfo SARS-CoV-2 Antibody test and the INNOVITA 2019-nCoV Ab test) in comparison with a SARS-CoV-2 neutralization pseudotyped assay for COVID-19 diagnosis in hospitalized patients, and investigate whether the intensity of the test band in LFIC associates with neutralizing antibody (NtAb) titers. Patients and Methods: Ninety sera were included from 51 patients with moderate to severe COVID-19. A green fluorescent protein (GFP)…
Just another drip: Re-analysis of a proposed Mesoarchean suture from the Barberton Mountain Land, South Africa
2014
Abstract Structural analysis of a proposed Mesoarchean suture located immediately to the southwest of the Barberton Greenstone Belt, South Africa – known as the Inyoni Shear Zone (ISZ) – reveals that the main, steeply dipping, NNE-striking fabric is distributed across only 1 km width, is late (D3), and clearly overprints two earlier sets of fabric elements (D1, D2) that were originally oriented at right angles to the direction of proposed collision. Dating of a S2 foliated meta-trondhjemite is interpreted to indicate that D2 deformation was at, or younger than, 3238.2 ± 0.9 Ma. The D3 high strain fabric of the ISZ is localised around tightly folded, kilometre-scale supracrustal rafts, but d…
