Architectural Reconstruction of 3D Building Objects through Semantic Knowledge Management

International audience; This paper presents an ongoing research which aims at combining geometrical analysis of point clouds and semantic rules to detect 3D building objects. Firstly by applying a previous semantic formalization investigation, we propose a classification of related knowledge as definition, partial knowledge and ambiguous knowledge to facilitate the understanding and design. Solving congestion in cities : policies and contradictions

International audience; Most cities in the world are now facing traffic gridlock. Local governements and transportation authorities are trying to tame a phenomenon which takes in fact very different forms depending on the level of social and economic development. Is it really possible to compare freeway gridlock in Los Angeles with rickshaw gridlock in Dhaka, Bangladesh ? When French cities embrace the development of urban bicycling, Chinese cities limit the use of bicycles. Using cases of cities in different parts of world, this presentation willl try to find some common trends in urban mobility policies and examine some contradictory developments.

Biorąc za punkt wyjścia perspektywę historyczną oraz ewolucję kultury translacji w Polsce od lat 20. XX wieku aż po czasy współczesne, autorka analizuje stopniową zmianę paradygmatu w odniesieniu do roli i znaczenia przekładu literackiego. W dalszej części zostaje podjęta refleksja na temat wybranych lingwistycznych i estetycznych kryteriów oceny jakości przekładu, w celu zbadania, na ile produktywne może okazać się podejście interdyscyplinarne w tym zakresie. Szczegółowej analizie zostają poddane kryteria oceny jakości tłumaczenia zaproponowane przez Sigrid Kupsch-Losereit pod względem możliwości ich zastosowania do przekładów tekstów literackich.
Measuring Achievement, Affiliation, and Power Motives in Mobility Situations: Development of the Multi-Motive Grid Mobility

The current study introduces the Multi-Motive Grid Mobility (MMG-M) in an age-stratified sample (N = 206) that aims to disentangle six motive components – hope of success, hope of affiliation, hope of power, fear of failure, fear of rejection, and fear of power – in mobility-related and mobility-unrelated scenarios. Similar to the classical Multi-Motive Grid (MMG), we selected 14 picture scenarios representing seven mobility and seven non-mobility situations. The scenarios were combined with 12 statements from the MMG. Both the MMG-M and MMG were assessed to allow comparability between psychometric criteria. The present paper reports the results of a simulation study regarding the impact of the adoption of heat pumps for domestic hot water production in the island of Lampedusa (Italy). In the study, it has been assumed to replace electric storage water heaters with heat pumps at every dwelling of the about four thousand domestic end-users of the island and, in addition, to control the heat pump operation in order to enhance some parameters that characterize the quality of the generation and distribution system of the island (power peak, energy losses and voltage drop). A new, highly flexible model system for the seamless dynamical down-scaling of meteorological and chemical processes from the global to the meso-γ scale is presented. A global model and a cascade of an arbitrary number of limited-area model instances run concurrently in the same parallel environment, in which the coarser grained instances provide the boundary data for the finer grained instances. Thus, disk-space intensive and time consuming intermediate and pre-processing steps are entirely avoided and the time interpolation errors of common off-line nesting approaches are minimised. This paper presents a device for controlling and connecting combined Renewable Energy Sources (RES)-based generators and electric storage systems to the supply utility grid. The device is a bidirectional converter that can be controlled in order to facilitate the interface between the low voltage grid and small generators combined with lithium-ion LiFePO4 batteries, contemporary addressing the requirements of the reference technical standards for users connection and providing different ancillary services. The paper describes the revising and finalizing activities carried out by the DEIM of the University of Palermo and ENEA during 2013.

The recent advances in distributed energy systems require new models for exchanging energy among prosumers in microgrids. The blockchain technology promises to solve the digital issues related to distributed systems without a trusted authority and to allow quick and secure energy transactions, which are verified and cryptographically protected.
