AS Grindeks un AS Olainfarm finanšu darbības rādītāju analīze un salīdzinājums
2018
Using mechanical experiments to study ground stone tool use: Exploring the formation of percussive and grinding wear traces on limestone tools
2021
Ground Stone Tools (GST) have been identified in several Levantine archaeological sites dating to the Middle Paleolithic. These tools, frequently made of limestone, are often interpreted based on their morphology and damage as having been used for knapping flint, and sometimes for breaking animal bones or processing vegetal materials as well. However, the lack of experimental referential collections on limestone is a major obstacle for the identification of diagnostic traces on these types of tools and raw material. In this sense, the understanding of the specific function of these GST and the association between tool types and activity often remains unknown or merely speculative. Recent di…
Surface finish on hardened bearing steel parts produced by superhard and abrasive tools
2007
New technological process consisting of hard turning (HT) followed by abrasive machining, in place of the widely used method in industry, i.e., hard turning versus grinding, has lately been launched in the automotive industry. This is because, many transmissions parts, such as synchronizing gears, crankshafts and camshafts require superior surface finish along with appropriate fatigue performance. This paper provides a comprehensive characterization of part surface finish produced in dry turning of a hardened AISI 52100 bearing steel using mixed ceramic (MC) and PCBN tools, and also its modification after special abrasive finishing operations including superfinishing (SF) and belt grinding …

Particulated wisdom teeth as an autologous bone substitute for grafting/filling material in bone defects : case Report
2020
Introduction Bone augmentation material using permanent teeth are confirmed in many articles to provide good histological and clinical results. Advances in osteoconduction and osteoinduction, low cost of material, no risk of disease transmission and elimination of foreign body reaction are important aspects not only to the clinician but to patient as well. Many techniques and devices to obtain graft material for bone augmentation out of teeth are found in the literature. Material and Methods The wisdom teeth crush technique developed in our office and described in this case report is simple and no specific devices for teeth grinding were used. The graft material was obtained from impacted i…
Quantification of low levels of amorphous content in sucrose by hyperDSC.
2005
A method was developed for the quantification of low levels of amorphous content in sucrose with hyperDSC. The method was based on the fact that the change of specific heat at the glass transition is linearly proportional to the amorphous content. It was found out that as annealing time increased, the glass transition temperature moved to a higher temperature and the change of specific heat increased. DeltaC(p) for annealed totally amorphous sucrose was 0.761+/-0.012 Jg(-1) degrees C(-1). Synthetic mixtures with various proportions of crystalline and amorphous sucrose were prepared. The following linear regression between DeltaC(p) and amorphous content was obtained: DeltaC(p)=0.0075x - 0.0…
Crystalline microstructure of sepiolite influenced by grinding
2005
The crystalline microstructure of ground sepiolite has been investigated. A reference sample of sepiolite and products of its comminution by dry grinding were studied through X-ray diffraction pattern analysis, specific surface measurements by nitrogen adsorption and complementary analysis of field emission scanning electron microscope images. A statistical model of polycrystals was applied to describe and determine the crystalline microstructure of the studied specimens. The model parameters characterizing the microstructure were prevalent crystallite shape, volume-weighted crystallite size distribution and second-order crystalline lattice strain distribution, and they were determined for …
Data from: Genetic and ecotypic differentiation in a Californian plant polyploid complex (Grindelia, Asteraceae)
2015
Studies of ecotypic differentiation in the California Floristic Province have contributed greatly to plant evolutionary biology since the pioneering work of Clausen, Keck, and Hiesey. The extent of gene flow and genetic differentiation across interfertile ecotypes that span major habitats in the California Floristic Province is understudied, however, and is important for understanding the prospects for local adaptation to evolve or persist in the face of potential gene flow across populations in different ecological settings. We used microsatellite data to examine local differentiation in one of these lineages, the Pacific Coast polyploid complex of the plant genus Grindelia (Asteraceae). W…
