New isomer and decay half-life ofRu115
2010
Exotic, neutron-rich nuclei of mass $A=115$ produced in proton-induced fission of $^{238}\mathrm{U}$ were extracted using the IGISOL mass separator. The beam of isobars was transferred to the JYFLTRAP Penning trap system for further separation to the isotopic level. Monoisotopic samples of $^{115}\mathrm{Ru}$ nuclei were used for $\ensuremath{\gamma}$and $\ensuremath{\beta}$ coincidence spectroscopy. In $^{115}\mathrm{Ru}$ we have observed excited levels, including an isomer with a half-life of 76(6) ms and ($7/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$) spin and parity. The first excited 61.7-keV level in $^{115}\mathrm{Ru}$ with spins and parity ($3/{2}^{+}$) may correspond to an $\mathit{oblate}$ $3/{2}^{+}$…
Overlappingβdecay and resonance neutron spectroscopy of levels inKr87
1983
Energy levels in $^{87}\mathrm{Kr}$ have been studied, with special emphasis on the unbound region, using two different methods. The first method comprises neutron capture and transmission measurements on an enriched gas target of $^{86}\mathrm{Kr}$ using neutron time-of-flight techniques. In this way, neutron widths were determined for 39 resonances below 400 keV and capture areas for 14 resonances below 90 keV. The second method is a decay study of 56-s $^{87}\mathrm{Br}$ in which a level scheme for $^{87}\mathrm{Kr}$ has been established that shows 126 levels in the bound and 12 levels in the unbound region. A detailed comparison amongst the neutron resonance, the $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-r…
g factors of $^{31,32,33}$Al: Indication for intruder configurations in the $^{33}$Al ground state
2006
Abstract The g factors of 31,32,33 Al have been measured using the β -nuclear magnetic resonance ( β -NMR) technique on spin-polarized beams produced in the fragmentation of a 36 S (77.5 MeV/u) beam on a 9 Be target. Nearly pure beams of Al ( Z = 13 ) isotopes were selected with the high-resolution fragment separator LISE at GANIL. An asymmetry as high as 6% has been observed in the β -NMR curve for 32 Al implanted in a Si single crystal. The magnetic moment of the N = 20 nucleus 33 Al is obtained for the first time: μ ( Al 33 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 4.088 ( 5 ) μ N , while those of 31,32 Al are obtained with improved accuracy: μ ( Al 31 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 3.830 ( 5 ) μ N and μ ( Al 32 , I π =…
Nuclear structure of 131Te studied with (n,γ) and reactions
2003
Abstract The structure of 131 Te has been investigated with the 130 Te( n , γγ ) 131 Te reaction using thermal neutrons and with the 130 Te( d , p ) 131 Te reaction using polarized deuterons with energy E d =18 MeV. About 290 levels were identified in most cases including spin, parity and γ -decay. The γ -decay scheme after neutron capture is essentially complete containing about 100% of the decay of the capture state and about 100% of the population of the 11/2 − isomer and of the ground state. The scheme includes 42 primary transitions with energies between 750 keV and 2500 keV. The experimental level scheme is compared with predictions of the Interacting Boson–Fermion model (IBFM) and of…
Proton-hole states in theN=30neutron-rich isotopeK49
2010
Excited states in the N=30 neutron-rich isotope {sup 49}K have been studied using multinucleon transfer reactions with thin targets and the PRISMA-CLARA spectrometer combined with thick-target {gamma}-coincidence data from Gammasphere. The d{sub 3/2} proton-hole state is located 92 keV above the s{sub 1/2} ground state, and the proton-particle f{sub 7/2} state is suggested at 2104 keV. Three other levels are established as involving the coupling to 2{sup +} of two neutrons above the N=28 shell. The measured or estimated lifetimes served to reinforce the interpretation of the observed level structure, which is found to be in satisfactory agreement with shell-model calculations.
Quasielastic proton knockout from 16O.
1994
The spectral function of the $^{16}\mathrm{O}$(e,e'p${)}^{15}$N reaction has been measured in quasielastic parallel kinematics. Momentum distributions are extracted for transitions to several discrete states, with emphasis on the low-lying positive parity states of $^{15}\mathrm{N}$. Spectroscopic factors and bound state wave functions are deduced from a DWIA analysis employing five different optical potentials. Coupled channels effects are investigated for the first four states of $^{15}\mathrm{N}$ and are found to be minimal. The spectroscopic results of the 1/${2}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ ground state and the first 3/${2}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ excited state indicate a 28%\ifmmode\…

Shape isomerism and spectroscopy ofHg177
2003
High spin states in the $^{177}\mathrm{Hg}$ nucleus were populated by the $^{144}\mathrm{Sm}(^{36}\mathrm{Ar},3\mathrm{n})^{177}\mathrm{Hg}$ reaction at a beam energy of $178\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{MeV}$. The emitted prompt $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays were detected with the Jurosphere $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectrometer, while the recoiling nuclei were identified using an active stopper at the focal plane of the gas-filled separator RITU. A quasi-rotational band that decays to an isomeric state with a half-life ${t}_{1∕2}=1.50\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.15\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$ and its subsequent $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ decay to the ground state of…
Nuclear structure of 127Te studied with (n,γ) and (d→,p) reactions and interpreted with IBFM and QPM
2005
Abstract The nuclear structure of 127Te has been investigated with the Te 126 ( n , γ γ ) Te 127 reaction using thermal neutrons and with the Te 126 ( d → , p ) Te 127 reaction at E d = 20 MeV . About 190 levels were identified in a region to 4.1 MeV excitation energy, in most cases including spin, parity and γ-decay. The γ-decay scheme after neutron capture is essentially complete containing about 100% of the population of the 11 / 2 − isomer and of the ground state. The thermal neutron capture cross section and isomer production of the 11 / 2 − state at 88.3 keV were determined to be 0.44(6) b and 0.069(10) b, respectively. The neutron binding energy was determined to be 6287.6(1) keV. A …
Forward-AngleH3e(e,e′π±)Coincident Electroproduction and the Search forΔ's in the Ground State ofH3e
1996
Forward-angle coincident electroproduction cross sections of charged pions from ${}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ have been measured at electron energies ${E}_{0}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}855$, 675, 600, and 555 MeV. The overall features of the data for energy transfers of $\ensuremath{\omega}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}370$ to 430 MeV with pions detected along the momentum transfer axis are reproduced in terms of a microscopic model, including pole terms, final state rescattering and produced and preformed $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ resonances. Separation of the cross section into its longitudinal and transverse parts was performed at ${Q}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex…
