Nuclear structure of 127Te studied with (n,γ) and (d→,p) reactions and interpreted with IBFM and QPM
2005
Abstract The nuclear structure of 127Te has been investigated with the Te 126 ( n , γ γ ) Te 127 reaction using thermal neutrons and with the Te 126 ( d → , p ) Te 127 reaction at E d = 20 MeV . About 190 levels were identified in a region to 4.1 MeV excitation energy, in most cases including spin, parity and γ-decay. The γ-decay scheme after neutron capture is essentially complete containing about 100% of the population of the 11 / 2 − isomer and of the ground state. The thermal neutron capture cross section and isomer production of the 11 / 2 − state at 88.3 keV were determined to be 0.44(6) b and 0.069(10) b, respectively. The neutron binding energy was determined to be 6287.6(1) keV. A …
Forward-AngleH3e(e,e′π±)Coincident Electroproduction and the Search forΔ's in the Ground State ofH3e
1996
Forward-angle coincident electroproduction cross sections of charged pions from ${}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ have been measured at electron energies ${E}_{0}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}855$, 675, 600, and 555 MeV. The overall features of the data for energy transfers of $\ensuremath{\omega}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}370$ to 430 MeV with pions detected along the momentum transfer axis are reproduced in terms of a microscopic model, including pole terms, final state rescattering and produced and preformed $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ resonances. Separation of the cross section into its longitudinal and transverse parts was performed at ${Q}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex…
Processes discriminating adaptive and maladaptive Internet use among European adolescents highly engaged online.
2015
Today adolescents are highly engaged online. Contrary to common concern, not all highly engaged adolescents develop maladaptive patterns of internet use. The present qualitative study explored the experiences, patterns and impact of use of 124 adolescents (M(age) = 16.0) reporting signs of internet addictive behaviors. The focus was to discern adaptive and maladaptive use patterns, which promote or interfere with adolescents' development, respectively. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted in seven European countries (Greece, Spain, Poland, Germany, Romania, Netherlands and Iceland) and qualitatively analyzed using grounded theory. Considerable variability emerged in the way …
Compression of Polarized 3He
1991
This article gives a status report on the polarized 3He target development work at Mainz. It is based on the optical pumping of the 3S1 state of 3He with subsequent metastability spin exchange to the ground state atoms. This pumping scheme is very efficient at 3He pressures of about 1 Torr; for high density targets, however, a mechanical compression of the polarized gas is needed in a second step. First results with a Toepler compression pump look promising and will be discussed in the following.
Precision spectroscopy at heavy ion ring accelerator SIS300
2007
Unique spectroscopic possibilities open up if a laser beam interacts with relativistic lithium-like ions stored in the heavy ion ring accelerator SIS300 at the future Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research FAIR in Darmstadt, Germany. At a relativistic factor gamma = 36 the 2P 1/2 level can be excited from the 2S 1/2 ground state for any element with frequency doubled dye-lasers in collinear geometry. Precise transition energy measurements can be performed if the fluorescence photons, boosted in forward direction into the X-ray region, are energetically analyzed with a single crystal monochromator. The hyperfine structure can be investigated at the 2P 1/2 - 2S 1/2 transition for all elemen…
Radiative lifetimes of Am I atomic levels.
1988
The lifetimes of several atomic levels of Am I that are connected by electric dipole transitions to the ground state have been measured. The Am atoms were excited by light pulses from a cw single-mode dye laser with the aid of an optoacoustic modulator. The decay curve of the delayed emitted photons was measured by counting single photons in the beam-off periods. The lifetimes of 14 levels in the wavelength region between 6405 and 4265 A were measured using Am-metal vapor. The metallic Am was obtained by reducing AmO/sub 2/ with La at 1500 /sup 0/C in a high-vacuum system and collecting Am on a catcher foil. The Am vapor was then produced by controlled reevaporation from the foil at a tempe…
Collective stress and coping in the context of organizational culture
2000
We examined from a cultural perspective how well-being was collectively defined, what were the sources of collective stress, and what kind of collective coping mechanisms were used to alleviate such stress in three divisions of a multinational company. In the first phase of the study we collected data on organizational culture by using individual thematic interviews ( N = 63). Applying the grounded theory methodology and an inductive analysis, specific cultures describing the divisions were identified. In terms of co-operation we found the following fundamental cultural recipes: joint focused efforts on money-making, despite the awareness of the common goals employees interested only in ful…
Studying radical organizational innovation through grounded theory
2000
The main aim of this article is to study the social processes occurring during the implementation of radical organizational innovation. Our aim is to understand the nature of the development of radical innovation by identifying the social processes, that are taking place. The perspective for the analysis stems from grounded theory as a generative and inductive analytical strategy (Glaser & Strauss, 1967). An in-depth case study was thoroughly analysed. A total of 14 indepth interviews were conducted with key informants selected according to theoretical sampling criteria. The systematic use of the constant comparative method allowed us to differentiate grounded theories leading to a c…
On the hexagonal ice-like model of structured water: Theoretical analysis of the low-lying excited states
2014
Abstract The basic molecular unit ( BMU ) of the hexameric ice-like model has been identified as the negatively charged radical species [H 19 O 10 ] − . On the basis of high-level ab initio computations, by means of using the CASPT2 methodology, the low-lying excited states of BMU and its π-stacked dimer are analysed. It is concluded that the BMU constitutes certainly a versatile unit having two spectroscopic features in the near infrared region, two in the visible range and two in the near ultraviolet zone. The main absorption feature is found however for the π-stacked dimer formed by two BMUs , the H 38 O 20 system, which has a pronounced stabilization in the ground state with respect to …
Molecular and electronic structure of square-planar nickel(ii), nickel(iii) and nickel(iii)π-cation radical complexes with a tetradentate o-phenylene…
2005
The molecular and electronic structures of the electron transfer series of four-coordinate square-planar nickel complexes with the ligand o-phenylenebis(N'-methyloxamidate), [NiL]z (z = 2-, 1-, 0), have been evaluated by DFT and TDDFT calculations, and most of their experimentally available structural and spectroscopic properties (X. Ottenwaelder et al., Dalton Trans., 2005, DOI: 10.1039/b502478a) have been reasonably reproduced at the B3LYP level of theory. The anionic species [NiL]2- and [NiL]- are genuine low-spin nickel II and nickel III complexes with diamagnetic singlet (S = 0) and paramagnetic doublet (S = 1/2) states, respectively. The nickel III complex presents shorter Ni-N(amidat…
