Confined subgroups in periodic simple finitary linear groups

A subgroupX of the locally finite groupG is said to beconfined, if there exists a finite subgroupF≤G such thatX g∩F≠1 for allg∈G. Since there seems to be a certain correspondence between proper confined subgroups inG and non-trivial ideals in the complex group algebra ℂG, we determine the confined subgroups of periodic simple finitary linear groups in this paper.

We give a complete and explicit realization of the unitary irreducible representations of the universal covering group G of E(2), the Euclidean group in two dimensions, by deformation of the algebra of functions on the dual g* of the Lie algebra of G. We define an adapted Fourier transform for G which gives a natural description of the harmonic analysis of G.
Proper triangular Ga-actions on A^4 are translations

We describe the structure of geometric quotients for proper locally triangulable additve group actions on locally trivial A^3-bundles over a noetherian normal base scheme X defined over a field of characteristic 0. In the case where dim X=1, we show in particular that every such action is a translation with geometric quotient isomorphic to the total space of a vector bundle of rank 2 over X. As a consequence, every proper triangulable Ga-action on the affine four space A^4 over a field of characteristic 0 is a translation with geometric quotient isomorphic to A^3.

Background Minimal access valve surgery, both mitral and aortic, may be related to improvement in specific post-operative outcomes, therefore may be beneficial for the subgroup of the elderly referred for valve surgery. Methods A systematic literature review identified several different studies, of which 6 fulfilled criteria for meta-analysis. Outcomes for a total of 1347 patients (675 conventional standard sternotomy and 672 minimally invasive valve surgery) were assessed with a meta-analysis using random effects modeling. Completely protected sialyl LewisX azide was synthesized from a neolactosamine azide precursor carrying a 3-O-allyloxycarbonyl group as the temporary protecting group. After its Pd(0)-catalyzed deprotection and stereoselective alpha-fucosylation, the obtained LewisX azide was subjected to O-deacetylation in the galactose unit and subsequent regio- and stereoselective sialylation.
