Augustin Cochin (1823-1872) collaboratore, tra gli altri, di Frédéric Ozanam, di Armand de Melun e del vescovo d'Orléans Dupanloup, fu uno dei più influenti redattori del "Correspondant" e illustre membro della Société d'économie charitable. Discepolo di Montalembert e di Lacordaire portò avanti l'idea del neoguelfismo come soluzione che poeta conciliare la Chiesa e il liberalismo. Augustinuksen Soliloquia-teos on dialogimuodossa oleva väittely, joka on hyvä lähde latinan puhekielen fraseologialle. Työn tarkoituksena on esitellä latinankielistä keskustelua helpottavia ilmauksia. Kirkkoisä Augustinus eli myöhäisantiikin aikana, mutta oli silti klassisen latinan edustaja, kuten tässä työssä esiteltävä Soliloquia teoskin osoittaa. Työn pääpaino on kuitenkin latinan puhekielessä. Tästä Augustinuksen ja hänen järkensä välisestä vuoropuhelusta on valikoitu sopivia fraaseja, jotka on suomennettu ja lajiteltu aihepiirinsä mukaan. In the last thirty years, that is since the end of the Cold War, it has occurred a singular phenomenon in the democratic societies: several traditional communist parties have left the old Marxist ideology, by maintaining many aspects of the liberal one (primacy of freedom on equality, free market...) giving up their classical revolutionary calling. My thesis is that the italian philosopher Augusto Del Noce has given one of the most remarkable interpretations both of the historical and theoretical collapse of Marxism and of this paradoxical embrace between the ex-communist parties and a kind of liberal individualism.

The author tries to explain the mini-text in relation to the so called "post-modern" condition by resorting -in particular- to the notion of "fractal". This term is taken from the scientific language and distinguishes itself from the notion of "detail", which would clearly refer to a modern vision of the text.
