La cura del corpo nella storia
2022
In this chapter, the authors present a historical reconstruction of body care as physical education, starting from oral civilizations and going through the classical, medieval and modern ages. Until 1800, the body was the object of attention of various religious and worldly views, while from the twentieth century onwards, body education as physical education was valued, becoming a subject of primary importance in the education of the person.
Effect of low-load hamstring strength training on the H/Q ratio and electromyographic activity in various gymnastic actions in young aesthetic group …
2013
Muscle balance is an important factor for decreasing injury risks among sports, as weak ago-nist-antagonist strength ratio may predispose to injuries. Hamstring-to-quadriceps (H/Q) strength ratio has been studied in several sports in order to describe the muscular balance of thighs. During pubertal longitudinal growth, hamstrings may be weaker due to the mechanical stress of growth. As both hamstring flexibility and knee extension strength are important for aesthetic group gymnastics (AGG), the H/Q strength ratio might be expected to be low among this sport. Describing muscle activation patterns of hamstrings and quadriceps femoris in AGG actions is efficient for determining the H and Q act…
Intervención psicológica en un equipo de gimnasia rítmica deportiva : estudio de un caso
2013
We present an intervention programme with a female rhythmic gymnastics team (N =7), with members aged 15 to 21 (M = 18, SD = 2) competing in the senior national category. Fourteen psychological group sessions were conducted between September and December 2011. The motivational climate, approaches to goals, team cohesion, the coach's leadership style and gymnasts' psychological skills were assessed before and after the intervention programme. The results showed reductions in an ego-involving climate and ego-orientation and an increase in a task-involving climate. We found changes in the leadership style of the coach, moving toward an optimal leadership profile. There was a progressive improv…
Study on the Influence of Beginner Gymnasts’ Neuromuscular Control Using Computer-assisted Move 1 Du Portable Appliance
2014
Abstract The study aims at evaluating, training and improving upper limb neuromuscular control in preschool gymnasts as well as at highlighting the benefits of using computerized resources (MOVE 1 DU portable appliance) in training this control type. The research method chosen for this project consists in conducting an experiment on a group of 10 subjects aged 6-7 years. The key purpose of this study is to offer a more accurate and realistic view on the potential use of computer resources in training the neuromuscular control of the upper limb.
Effects of combined electromyostimulation and gymnastics training in prepubertal girls.
2011
This study investigated the effects of a 6-week combined electromyostimulation (EMS) and gymnastic training program on muscle strength and vertical jump performance of prepubertal gymnasts. Sixteen young women gymnasts (age 12.4 ± 1.2 yrs) participated in this study, with 8 in the EMS group and the remaining 8 as controls. EMS was conducted on knee extensor muscles for 20 minutes 3 times a week during the first 3 weeks and once a week during the last 3 weeks. Gymnasts from both groups underwent similar gymnastics training 5-6 times a week. Isokinetic torque of the knee extensors was determined at different eccentric and concentric angular velocities ranging from -60 to +240° per second. Jum…
Musculoskeletal Pain in Gymnasts: A Retrospective Analysis on a Cohort of Professional Athletes
2021
Gymnastics athletes are exposed to a high risk of injury, but also of developing musculoskeletal pain. These data are still little investigated in the available scientific literature. An online survey was distributed to 79 professional athletes who practiced artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. The survey collected demographic and anthropometric data, information about the sport practice, the training sessions, the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain gymnastics-related, and lifestyle habits. Musculoskeletal pain had a high prevalence, involving 65 of 79 athletes (82.3%). A significant correlation was found between musculoskeletal pain and the duration of sports practice, both for general pain (…

From conscript gymnastics to sportive gymnastics. 1919-1939: The case of the Federation of Alsatian Gymnastics Associations
2000
Between the two World Wars, gymnastics become a sport just as any other sport. An analysis of the history of the Federation of Alsatian Gymnastics Associations allows us to understand this mutation which is even more remarkable since the opposition between gymnastics and sports was initially very stiff. This mutation corresponds to a series of transformations affecting the gymnastics associations both in their functioning modalities and their social structure: the gymnast, traditionally excluded of decision making circles, becomes a full-fledged member; increasingly fewer " passive members " are inclined to support the mass education carried out by gymnastics associations; instructors are r…
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WOMEN´S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS TECHNICAL SKILL, PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE TEST RESULTS AND SUCCESS IN COMPETITIONS IN FINLAND
2019
The aim of this study was to find out the potential of the Minoritest to identify the most likely talented gymnasts to join the national team pre-training group in Finland. The study examined the relationships between gymnasts´ (N=215, age 10–13) Minoritest results (2006–2010) and success in competitions after the Minoritests until the end of 2016. The competition results were also compared between the gymnasts who had participated in the test and a random number (N=180) of gymnasts who had not. According to this study, the majority (92%) of the best gymnasts in competitions had participated in the Minoritest. 39% of the best in competitions were among the top 10 in the Minoritest. The test…
Hyvä valmentaja 10-15-vuotiaiden telinevoimistelussa kilpailevien tyttöjen silmin
2014
Tutkielman aineistonkeruu suoritettiin helmi-maaliskuussa 2013 sähköisellä kyselylomakkeella, johon saivat vastata aktiivisesti telinevoimistelua harrastavat, 10–15 -vuotiaat tytöt. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteensä 38 tyttöä 14 eri seurasta. He olivat aktiivisesti kilpailleet viimeisen kahden vuoden aikana eli osallistuneet vähintään yksiin virallisiin, kansallisen tason naistelinevoimistelukilpailuihin…
