(Re)negotiating Freedom of Expression in the Spanish Transition: The Case of El Papus (1973-1987)
2020
Juxtaposing documents from judicial and administrative archives with material published in the satirical magazine El Papus (1973-1987), this essay examines the confrontation between national-Catholic discourse and new modes of visual and textual expression in late Francoism and the early years of the democratic transition in Spain. The present study represents a survey of some 44 state-produced documents and 124 journalistic pieces, applying a two-pronged methodology rooted in discourse analysis with a special focus on the content and themes deemed unfit for publication in the pages of El Papus. The results will show that a loosening of erotic and sexual mores, particularly those related to…
Afroperipheral indigeneity in Wayde Compton’s The Outer Harbour
2021
Black Canadian writer Wayde Compton’s short story collection The Outer Harbour (2015) is located in the Afroperiphery of British Columbia which stands as a ‘contact zone’ that enables the alliances between Black and Indigenous peoples and also establishes a fecund ground of possibilities to emphasize the way in which crossethnic coalitions and representations reconsider imperial encounters previously ignored. The stories participate in the recent turn in Indigenous studies towards kinship and cross-ethnicity to map out the connected and shared itineraries of Black and Indigenous peoples and re-read Indigeneity in interaction. At the same time, the stories offer a fresh way to revisit Indige…

The 2019 Local Elections in Valencia’s Metropolitan Area
2020
Voting behaviour in Valencia’s Metropolitan Area can be split into four periods: (1) During the early years of democracy (1979-1991) following the Franco dictatorship, the area was a stronghold of the Left; (2) In 1991, the City of Valencia switched and was governed by the Right; (3) In 2011, the Right extended its control to the whole of the Metropolitan Area; (4) In the May 2015 elections, the Left won not only in the ‘red’ metropolitan belt but also in the City of Valencia. This study looks at what happened in the last set of local elections in 2019. To this end, we begin with a brief review of the election results, voting trends, and the institutional performance of each party since the…

2013
Purpose – The focus of customer relationship management (CRM) literature has been predominantly on the firm perspective and on IT, not on customer or service orientation and value co-creation. To achieve this, a thorough literature review on CRM is conducted focusing on recent advances within CRM. This provides a good basis for critically analysing the current status of both CRM theory and practice. Design/methodology/approach – The paper reviews CRM literature published 2003-2011. Based on the literature review, it introduces a conceptual framework of the changing role of customer d…
Customer’s role in knowledge management and in the innovation process: effects on innovation capacity and marketing results
2016
Scholars have acknowledged customer knowledge management (CKM) as a key strategic resource for improving innovation and supporting long-term customer relationship management. This study provides a deeper understanding of the internal antecedents of business innovation capacity overcoming previous approaches. A model that had not previously been tested was used to analyse the role of customer collaboration and CKM – measured as a second-order construct – in innovation processes and marketing results. To test the model, structural equation modelling (partial least squares) was applied to a random sample of 210 Spanish companies. Results confirm that CKM and customer collaboration are antecede…
Key Drivers of Customer Loyalty to Web 2.0 Accommodation Services: An Abstract
2017
Online travel communities are regarded as a key communication channel for web-based marketing in the travel industry (Bilgihan et al. 2016; Filieri 2015). The aim of this paper is to gain insight on key drivers of customer loyalty to websites selling accommodation services in online travel communities. We go beyond satisfaction, taking into account emotions and social influences. This paper intends to make three contributions. Firstly, it develops a conceptual model of the relationships between emotion factors and their direct (satisfaction) and indirect (trust, attitude and loyalty) outcome variables. Secondly, although the linear relationship between satisfaction, trust and loyalty seems …
