Evaluation of the Effects of a Bullying at Work Intervention for Middle Managers.
2020
The aim of the study is to evaluate the effects of a workplace bullying intervention based on the training of middle managers regarding bullying awareness, the consequences of bullying, strategies in conflict resolution and mediation/negotiation abilities. Overall, 142 randomly selected middle managers participated in the study. First, participants completed an information record and two scales assessing bullying strategies, role conflict and role ambiguity. The last two scales were completed again in a second phase three months after the intervention had finished. The intervention produced a decrease in the following bullying strategies: effects on self-expression and communication, effect…
Work, power and learning in a risk filled occupation
2011
In this article we describe various ways in which power is exercised between personnel in a hospital operating theatre. We aim to investigate how the forms of discursive power and workplace learning are intertwined with each other by utilizing an ethnographic approach in the fieldwork. Our data were collected mainly through observations and interviews with surgical residents, physicians and nurses. In the article we describe the delicate ways in which power is exercised and resisted in everyday practices. We argue that there is a close relationship between learning and manifestations of power, together with the various forms of these manifestations and the restrictions that may be placed o…
Comparing the Capabilities of Mobile Platforms for Business App Development
2015
Businesses increasingly embrace the possibilities of mobile computing. While there is broad advice for app developers in general, development of apps for enterprises is hardly covered. Business apps support internal processes and contribute to customer relationship management. The heterogeneity of platforms for mobile devices makes development difficult. At the same time, companies seek to support several platforms with their apps to maximize customer acceptance and to support the platforms best suited for their employees. Aiming at improving the knowledge on business app development, we present a framework for assessing mobile platforms. For this purpose, we have developed a distinct set o…
Médias sociaux et gestion de communautés - applications dans le domaine de la gestion de la relation client
2018
Customer relationship management (CRM) is a term that emerged in the middle of the 1990's, and that is often used to describe computerized tools that provide services to consumers before, during and after a sale. These consumers have followed the transformation of the Web that has happened in the last few years, where each user becomes a supplier of content using tools like, amongst others, social networks by sharing resources, content, and annotating. General use social networks, such as Facebook or Twitter, are now used daily by a very large number of users.Companies have to follow this evolution and include social networks as a new communication channel in order to interact with their cli…

Structure-function analysis of peroxisomal ATP-binding cassette transporters using chimeric dimers
2014
Background: Peroxisomal ABC transporters are predicted to function as homodimers in mammals. [br/] Results: ABCD1 interacts with ABCD2. Chimeric proteins mimicking full-length dimers represent novel tools for functional study. Artificial homodimers and heterodimers are functional. [br/] Conclusion: Interchangeability between ABCD1 and ABCD2 is confirmed, but PUFA transport depends on ABCD2. [br/] Significance: For the first time, heterodimers in mammals are proven to be functional.[br/] ABCD1 and ABCD2 are two closely related ATP-binding cassette half-transporters predicted to homodimerize and form peroxisomal importers for fatty acyl-CoAs. Available evidence has shown that ABCD1 and ABCD2 …
Some Plant Defense Stimulators can induce IL-1β production in human immune cells in vitro
2020
8 pages; International audience; Among Plant Protection Products (PPP), a new emerging category of pesticides act by stimulating plant defense in order to improve plant resistance against microbial pathogens. Given that these compounds, the so-called Plant Defense Stimulators (PDS) act on innate immunity, we tested, using an in vitro approach on human mononuclear leucocytes (PBMC), the potential toxicity (XTT assay) and inflammatory effects (production of IL-1β) of 4 PPP belonging to different chemical families. We found that two products (LBG-01F34® and Regalis®) did not induce any cytotoxicity or IL-1 β production. The product BION-50 WG®, that contains Acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) and sili…

Genomic characterization of mosaic cutaneous pigmentary disorders
2019
Ntroduction: Mosaic cutaneous dyschromia is strongly evocative of an underlying genetic mosaicism. These post-zygotic events are challenging for conventional diagnostic tools. Thus, genetic basis of mosaic cutaneous dyschromia still remained poorly understood. Materials and Methods: The M.U.S.T.A.R.D. cohort gathers DNA from skin biopsies of patients with mosaic cutaneous dyschromia. After a specialised phenotype analysis, they are referred to either trio exome sequencing (ES) at 200X, or targeted ultra-deep sequencing (60,000X) of candidate genes. Data are analysed with a tailored pipeline, allowing detection of both low-rate nucleotidic variations or chromosomal events. Results: From 2013…
Changing agricultural practices modifies the species and trait composition of the weed flora. A simulation study using a cropping system model
2013
International audience; Cropping systems change over time to adapt to socio-economical and environmental constraints and to profit from technological innovations. These changes can result in unexpected side-effects which are difficult to determine in fields. The objective of the present study was to use a cropping system model to evaluate the impacts of modified agricultural practices ex ante on weeds. The FLORSYS model quantifies the effect of crop succession, management techniques and climate on multi-specific weed dynamics over the years; it was parameterized with functional relationships predicting model parameters (e.g. pre-emergent seedling mortality) from species traits (e.g. seed ma…
