Existence de points fixes enlacés à une orbite périodique d'un homéomorphisme du plan
1992
Let f be an orientation-preserving homeomorphism of the plane such that f-Id is contracting. Under these hypotheses, we establish the existence, for every periodic orbit, of a fixed point which has nonzero linking number with this periodic orbit.
Post-Transcriptional Regulation of Iron Homeostasis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
2013
Iron is an essential micronutrient for all eukaryotic organisms because it participates as a redox cofactor in a wide variety of biological processes. Recent studies in Saccharomyces cerevisiae have shown that in response to iron deficiency, an RNA-binding protein denoted Cth2 coordinates a global metabolic rearrangement that aims to optimize iron utilization. The Cth2 protein contains two Cx8Cx5Cx3H tandem zinc fingers (TZFs) that specifically bind to adenosine/uridine-rich elements within the 3' untranslated region of many mRNAs to promote their degradation. The Cth2 protein shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Once inside the nucleus, Cth2 binds target mRNAs and stimulate…

Fixed Points for Multivalued Convex Contractions on Nadler Sense Types in a Geodesic Metric Space
2019
In 1969, based on the concept of the Hausdorff metric, Nadler Jr. introduced the notion of multivalued contractions. He demonstrated that, in a complete metric space, a multivalued contraction possesses a fixed point. Later on, Nadler&rsquo
Biological Basis of the HLA-B8,DR3-Associated Progression of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
1998
The factors influencing the evolution of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are not fully known, but the host genotype undoubtedly plays a role in determining the outcome of the disease by affecting the immune response to HIV. The role of the host human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotype in the regulation of susceptibility to HIV infection and expression has been studied extensively in different major risk groups. Certain HLA alleles and haplotypes, being associated with aberrant immune responses independently from HIV infection, have been reported to facilitate the rapid progression of disorders related to HIV infection. Particularly, the association of rapid acquired immunodeficie…
Impact of dual antiplatelet therapy with proton pump inhibitors on the outcome of patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing drug-eluting stent…
2012
This study aimed to assess if proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may reduce the effectiveness of clopidogrel, than H2 antagonist (anti-H2) in order to determine rehospitalization for acute coronary syndrome (re-ACS), target vessel revascularization (TVR) and cardiac death. This case-control study included 176 patients with ACS undergoing angioplasty (PCI) with drug-eluting stent implantation. The population was divided into two groups: PPI group (n=121) consisting of patients receiving at discharge dual antiplatelet therapy (DAT) plus PPI and anti-H2 group (n=55), consisting of patients receiving at discharge DAT + H2 receptor antagonist (H2RA). In a followup of 36 months the prevalence of ACS e…
Incident colorectal cancer in Lynch syndrome is usually not preceded by compromised quality of colonoscopy
2019
AbstractBackground: Lifetime incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) especially in carriers of MLH1 and MSH2 pathogenic germline variants in mismatch repair genes is high despite ongoing colonoscopy s...
Effect of histamine and histamine analogues on human isolated myometrial strips.
1992
1. The effect of histamine and histamine H1- and H2-receptor agonists on isolated myometrium strips of premenopausal women has been examined. The effect of acetylcholine was also determined. 2. Histamine, 2-pyridylethylamine, 4-methylhistamine and acetylcholine, but not dimaprit, produced a concentration-related contractile response in human isolated myometrial strips. Histamine also produced a further contraction in human isolated myometrial strips precontracted with KCl (55 mM). 3. The contractile response to histamine was antagonized by the histamine H1-receptor antagonist, clemizole (0.1 microM) but was potentiated by the histamine H2-receptor antagonist, ranitidine (10 microM). Clemizo…
The role of nesfatin and selected molecular factors in various types of endometrial cancer
2019
Objectives: Endometrial cancers (ECs) are the most common gynaecological cancers in well developed countries. Diabetes and metabolic syndrome are among the biggest risk factors. Nesfatin-1, the adipokine derivative of NUCB2 (nucleobindin derivative 2) is linked to the clinical course of EC. Molecular factors, including mutations in MLH1 and MHS2 genes, c-MET and ARID1A are also related to prognosis in endometrial cancer. Material and methods: Using sections of paraffin-embedded preparations and immunohistochemistry, the expression of NESF1, MLH1, MSH2,c-MET and ARID1A were examined. Results: In this study on protein expression, EC tissues manifested (although insignificantly) an elevated ex…
Increased frequency of proinflammatory CD4 T cells and pathological levels of serum neurofilament light chain in adult drug-resistant epilepsy
2020
OBJECTIVE: Adult drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) is associated with significant morbidity. Infiltration of immune cells is observed in DRE epileptic foci; however, the relation between DRE and the peripheral immune cell compartment remains only partially understood. We aimed to investigate differences in immune cell populations, cytokines, and neurodegenerative biomarkers in the peripheral blood of subjects with epilepsy versus healthy controls, and in DRE compared to well-controlled epilepsy (WCE). METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells and serum from >120 age- and sex-matched adults suffering from focal onset epilepsy and controls were analyzed by multipanel flow cytometry, multiplex i…
