Presidentti Tarja Halosen uudenvuodenpuheet 2001-2008 : hyvinvointivaltion peilaaminen puheiden kautta
2008
Työssä on käytetty aineistona presidentti Tarja Halosen vuosina 2001–2008 pitämiä uudenvuodenpuheita.
Role of Weak Hydrogen Bonds and Halogen Bonds in 5-Halo-1,3-dimethyluracils and Their Cocrystals : A Combined Experimental and Computational Study
2016
Seven single crystals containing either N,N-dimethyluracil (DMHU) or one of its 5-halogenated derivatives (DMXU; X = F, Cl, Br, I) were prepared using N,N-dimethylformamide as the crystallization solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and quantum chemical calculations carried out at the spin component scaled local MP2 level of theory were then used to study the intramolecular halogen and nonconventional hydrogen bonds present in the structures. The results were compared to and contrasted with the previously reported data for uracil and its halogenated derivatives. In particular, the intermolecular interactions in DMIU were compared to the halogen and hydrogen bonds in 5-iodouracil that, …
Sustaining Attention for a Prolonged Duration Affects Dynamic Organizations of Frequency-Specific Functional Connectivity
2020
Sustained attention encompasses a cascade of fundamental functions. The human ability to implement a sustained attention task is supported by brain networks that dynamically formed and dissolved through oscillatory synchronization. The decrement of vigilance induced by prolonged task engagement affects sustained attention. However, little is known about which stage or combinations are affected by vigilance decrement. Here, we applied an analysis framework composed of weighted phase lag index (wPLI) and tensor component analysis (TCA) to an EEG dataset collected during 80 min sustained attention task to examine the electrophysiological basis of such effect. We aimed to characterize the phase…
An unexpected representation of burgundian vineyards in the 16th century: the map of “Les Environs de l’estang de Longpendu”
2022
The Environs de l’étang de Longpendu map by Jean Vandamme shows a part of the Burgundy territory, located in the center of Charolais, probably at the end of the sixteenth century. It is representative of a complex corpus and shows, in various ways, a part of the Burgundy vineyards in the North, and Charolais forests and plains in the South. The vineyards shown are partly those occupied by today’s Côte de Beaune, Côte chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Couchois. This is one of the oldest representations of the vineyard in Burgundy, and a precious tool for documenting the dynamics of vineyard expansion from the 16th to the 21st century.
Oncolytic targeting of renal cell carcinoma via encephalomyocarditis virus
2010
Apoptosis is a fundamental host defence mechanism against invading microbes. Inactivation of NF-kappaB attenuates encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) virulence by triggering rapid apoptosis of infected cells, thereby pre-emptively limiting viral replication. Recent evidence has shown that hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) increases NF-kappaB-mediated anti-apoptotic response in clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) that commonly exhibit hyperactivation of HIF due to the loss of its principal negative regulator, von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumour suppressor protein. Here, we show that EMCV challenge induces a strong NF-kappaB-dependent gene expression profile concomitant with a lack of interferon-me…
Explicit behavioral detection of visual changes develops without their implicit neurophysiological detectability
2011
Change blindness is a failure of reporting major changes across consecutive images if separated, e.g., by a brief blank interval. Successful change detection across interrupts requires focal attention to the changes. However, findings of implicit detection of visual changes during change blindness have raised the question of whether the implicit mode is necessary for development of the explicit mode. To this end, we recorded the visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) of the event-related potentials (ERPs) of the brain, an index of implicit pre-attentive visual change detection, in adult humans performing an oddball-variant of change blindness flicker task. Images of 500 ms in duration were prese…
An Upper Mississippian echinoderm microfauna from the Genicera Formation of northern León (Carboniferous, Cantabrian Mountains, N Spain)
2020
For the first time an echinoderm microfauna is recorded from the cephalopod limestone facies (‘griotte facies’) of the lower Carboniferous (Mississippian) Genicera Fm. (Alba Fm.). The formation is widespread in the Cantabrian Mountains in NW Spain, but the ossicles are from some sections in the surroundings of the Bernesga valley in northern León. They have been derived from insoluble acetic acid residues from samples of the upper and especially of the uppermost part of the formation (Canalón Mb. and Millaró Beds). The microfauna include taxonomically treated wheel-shaped ossicles, sieve-plates and rods of holothurians, goniodonts of ophiocistioids, and ophiuroid and stenuroid skeletal elem…
Emission of Bromine and Iodine from Mt. Etna volcano
2005
Constraining fluxes of volcanic bromine and iodine to the atmosphere is important given the significant role these species play in ozone depletion. However, very few such measurements have been made hitherto, such that global volcanic fluxes are poorly constrained. Here we extend the data set of volcanic Br and I degassing by reporting the first measurements of bromine and iodine emissions from Mount Etna. These data were obtained using filter packs and contemporaneous ultraviolet spectroscopic SO2 flux measurements, resulting in time-averaged emission rates of 0.7 kt yr(-1) and 0.01 kt yr(-1) for Br and I, respectively, from April to October 2004, from which we estimate global Br and I flu…
Advances in Bromine Speciation in Volcanic Plumes
2018
Volcanoes are a significant halogen source to the atmosphere. After water, carbon dioxide and sulfur compounds, halogens are often the most abundant gases in volcanic plumes. In the past, less attention was given to the heavy halogens bromine and iodine. However, the discovery of bromine monoxide (BrO) in volcanic plumes led to new interest especially in volcanic bromine chemistry and its impact on atmospheric processes. The BrO detection came along with advances in volcanic remote sensing techniques, in particular, robust DOAS applications and the possibility of continuous measurements by automated instruments located at safe distances from the volcano. As one of the consequences, the volc…
