Volatiles and contact pheromones involved in the mating behaviour of the Painted bug, Bagrada hilaris Burmeister (Het- eroptera: Pentatomidae), were investigated in behavioural and chemical experiments. Vertical open Y-shaped olfactometer bioassays showed that odour from males attract females but not males, while that from females did not attract either gender. Adult females were also attracted by hexane extracts of volatile compounds collected from males. In open arena bioassays, males displayed the characteristic steps of courtship behaviour in the presence of virgin females. The combustion of black liquor (BL) in a recovery boiler is a central process in a kraft pulp mill for recovering the cooking chemicals and for producing heat and power. This work explored the most important combustion behavior of BL, the swelling of in-flight droplets, from the viewpoint of liquor composition. It also studied the combustion behavior of BL droplets obtained from two biorefining subprocesses (carbonation and hot-water pretreatment, HWP) and sulfur-free pulping alternatives (soda-anthraquinone (AQ) and oxygen-alkali pulping). Development of fast analysis methods for extractives in papermaking process waters

A fast analysis method with an online sample enrichment technique for the analysis of resin and fatty acids present in papermaking process waters was developed. This method was based on atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and mass spectrometry (MS) for the detection of [M-H]- ions of compounds of interest. The method was applied to the control of the most prevalent resin (dehydroabietic and abietic) and fatty (palmitic, stearic, oleic, and linolenic) acid levels in papermaking process waters. Tämä tutkimus tarkastelee rahapeliriippuvuudesta toipumista. Tarkastelussa on, mitä tarinoissa kerrotaan rahapeliriippuvuuden toipumisen käännekohdista ja keinoista. Lisäksi tarkastellaan, mitä annettavaa näillä edellä mainituilla on sosiaalityön käytäntöihin. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu kuudestatoista tarinasta, jotka kerättiin kirjoituspyynnön avulla. Teoreettisena viitekehyksenä on narratiivisuus. Lisäksi taustateoriaa on rahapeliriippuvuudesta. Tutkimuksessa pyritään samaan ymmärrystä rahapeliriippuvuudesta toipumisesta, joten narratiivisuus sopii hyvin taustateoriaksi.
