Suomeen pystytettiin vuosien 1989–2000 välisenä aikana lähes yhdeksänkymmentä henkilömonumenttia tai -muistomerkkiä. Osa näistä teoksista aiheutti julkista keskustelua, eräät hyvinkin kiivaita debatteja, joissa sanailtiin muun muassa monumentin sopivasta muodosta, oikeasta tulkinnasta, menneisyyden tapahtumien "oikeista" ja "vääristä" muistoista ja erilaisista historian näkemyksistä. Tässä tutkielmassa tarkastellaan YK:n yleiskokouksen vuoden 2009 debattia suojeluvastuusta. Suojeluvastuu on suhteellisen uusi käsite, jonka mukaan valtioilla on vastuu suojella alueellaan olevia ihmisiä kansanmurhalta, etnisiltä puhdistuksilta, sotarikoksilta sekä rikoksilta ihmisyyttä vastaan. Kansainvälisellä yhteisöllä puolestaan on valtioita tukeva rooli, joka toteutetaan YK:n kautta. Vuoden 2009 debatti oli ensimmäinen, joka suojeluvastuusta käytiin YK:n yleiskokouksessa. Throughout the history of Western popular culture, new emerging forms of media have been perceived as threats to social norms, societal order and moral foundations. The present compilation dissertation situates the medium of digital games into this centuries-old continuum. This study contents that controversies and moral panics that originate from the aforementioned concerns should be perceived as cultural rites of passage for new media, which indicate their transition from one state into another, from periphery into mainstream. This paper aims to critically analyse the Estonian People’s Assembly (EPA), a crowdsourcing initiative carried out from 2013 to 2014. During the project, citizens could participate in decision-making and make proposals for laws and policies on a dedicated web-platform. This paper provides a glimpse into the removal of dissolved organic matter (DOM) during conventional drinking water treatment and evaluates the potential of high-performance size-exclusion chromatography (HPSEC) as a supplementary tool for routine monitoring of drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs). Two DWTPs in Central Finland were systematically evaluated using HPSEC with simultaneous UV and fluorescence detection.
