From propaganda to a blockbuster : the role of nationality in the reinterpretation of Captain America for modern, international audiences

Captain America comics were originally created in the 1940s as war propaganda. In the 2010s the story was remade as a successful movie franchise. Nowadays Hollywood is quite dependent on overseas sales, which is something they need to consider when producing their high-budget films. This thesis concentrates on how the story and the character of Captain America were reshaped to better appeal to modern and international audiences. This is done by comparing the ways America/Americans and other countries/ nationalities are addressed both in the comics and the films. Conservatives emphasized continuity in national sovereignty, while socialists focused on the interests of the working class. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää persoonallisuuden piirteiden ja tunteiden säätelystrategioiden yhteyksiä työn imuun. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin persoonallisuuden piirteistä ulospäinsuuntautuneisuutta ja neuroottisuutta sekä tunteiden säätelystrategioista tilanteen uudelleen arviointia ja tunteiden tukahduttamista. The reaction of ( 1 )Ni(η 2 -cod), 2 , incorporating a chelating bis( N -heterocyclic carbene) 1 , with P 4 in pentane yielded the dinuclear complex [( 2 )Ni] 2 (μ 2 ,η 2 :η 2 -P 4 ), 3 , formally featuring a cyclobutadiene-like, neutral, rectangular, π-bridging P 4 -ring. In toluene, the butterfly-shaped complex [( 1 )Ni] 2 (μ 2 ,η 2 :η 2 -P 2 ), 4 , with a formally neutral P 2 -unit was obtained from 2 and either P 4 or 3 .
