Thiophene based imino-pyridyl palladium(II) complexes : Synthesis, molecular structures and Heck coupling reactions

The new compounds (5-methyl-2-thiophene-2-pyridyl(R))imine [R = methyl (L1); R = ethyl (L2)] and (5-bromo-2-thiophene-2-pyridyl(R)imine [R = methyl (L3); R = ethyl (L4)] were successfully synthesized via Schiff base condensation reaction and obtained in good yields. These potential ligands were reacted with [PdCl2(COD)] and [PdClMe(COD)] to give the corresponding complexes [PdCl2(L)] (L = L1-L4; 1–4) and [PdClMe(L)] (L = L1-L4; 5–8). Research shows that gender inequality is still a major issue in academic science, yet academic societies may serve as underappreciated and effective avenues for promoting female leadership. That is, society membership is often self-selective, and board positions are elected (with a high turnover compared to institutions)—these characteristics, among others, may thus create an environment conducive to gender equality. Nie można mówić o zasadach jednomyślności i większości w parlamentaryźmie polskim XVI i XVII wieku, abstrahując od struktury organów przedstawicielskich, ich kompetencji i konkretnych metod podejmowania decyzji. Przedstawione w artykule analizy pozwalają na stwierdzenie, że pomimo tego, że zasada jednomyślności była charakterystyczna dla społeczeństwa stanowego, to już w wieku XVI w praktyce parlamentarnej decydowano w oparciu o zasadę większości. Mobilizing ‘context’: Vocabulary checks in ESL tutoring sessions

This study investigates the practice of unplanned and emergent vocabulary checks, i.e. turns through which a speaker explicitly checks whether the recipient knows a word, in small-group tutorial instruction. The data are video-recorded English as a second language (ESL) tutoring sessions between a native English speaker tutor and ESL students at an urban community college in the United States. By drawing on conversation analysis, we analyze how vocabulary checks emerge sequentially and with the help of contextual interactional resources. Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) belongs to the genus Enterovirus of the family Picornaviridae and can cause acute acinar pancreatitis in adults. However, the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis underlying CVB3-induced acute pancreatitis have remained unclear. In this study, we discovered that CVB3 capsid protein VP1 inhibited pancreatic cell proliferation and exerted strong cytopathic effects on HPAC cells. Through yeast two-hybrid, co-immunoprecipitation, and confocal microscopy, we show that Menage a trois 1 (MAT1), a subunit of the Cdk-Activating Kinase (CAK) complex involved in cell proliferation and transcription, is a novel interaction protein with CVB3 VP1.
