Tukiperheiden kokemuksia tukiperhetoiminnasta

2018

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia tukiperheiden kokemuksia. Tutkimme kokemuksia ja niistä esiin nousseita merkityksiä tukiperheiden, tukilasten ja heidän perheidensä näkökulmasta. Tukiperheet arvioivat tukilasten ja heidän perheidensä kokemuksia. Lisäksi tarkastelimme tukiperhetoiminnan yhteiskunnallisia merkityksiä. Haastattelimme tutkimukseemme kahta tukiperheenä toimivaa perhettä sekä sähköpostitse yhtä tukiperhetoiminnan asiantuntijaa Keski-Suomen alueelta. Toteutimme tutkimuksemme laadullisena ja käytimme haastattelumenetelmänä puolistrukturoituahaastattelua. Keräsimme aineistomme keväällä 2016. Analyysimenetelmänä hyödynsimme sisällönanalyysiä. Tukiperheet kokevat pystyvänsä antama…

Mechatronic Design of a Four-Wheel drive mobile robot and differential steering

2021

This paper presents, the development of an autonomous mobile robot with a four-wheel drive and differential locomotion. The mobile robot was developed in the Machines and Industrial Equipment Department from the Engineering Faculty of Sibiu. The main purpose of developing this type of mobile platform was the ability to transport different types of cargo either in industrial spaces or on rough terrain. Another important objective was that this platform could be driven in confined or tight spaces where a high degree of manoeuvrability is necessary. The great advantage of this type of mobile platform is the ability to navigate through narrow spaces due to the type of locomotion implemented. Th…

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF DILUTE SOLID-LIQUID SUSPENSION IN AN UNBAFFLED STIRRED VESSELS BY A NOVEL PULSED LASER BASED IMAGE ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE

2009

The availability of experimental information on solid distribution inside stirred tanks is a topic of great importance in several industrial applications. The measurement of solid particle distribution in turbulent multiphase flow is not simple and the development of suitable measurement techniques is still in progress. In this work a novel non-intrusive technique for measuring particle concentration fields in solid-liquid systems is employed. The technique makes use of a laser sheet, a high sensitivity digital camera for image acquisition and a Matlab procedure for post-processing the acquired images. Experimental data are here obtained for the case of an unbaffled stirred tank. Stable tor…

A Combined Multi-Cohort Approach Reveals Novel and Known Genome-Wide Selection Signatures for Wool Traits in Merino and Merino-Derived Sheep Breeds.

2019

Merino sheep represents a valuable genetic resource worldwide. In this study, we investigated selection signatures in Merino (and Merino-derived) sheep breeds using genome-wide SNP data and two different approaches: a classical F-ST-outlier method and an approach based on the analysis of local ancestry in admixed populations. In order to capture the most reliable signals, we adopted a combined, multi-cohort approach. In particular, scenarios involving four Merino breeds (Spanish Merino, Australian Merino, Chinese Merino, and Sopravissana) were tested via the local ancestry approach, while nine pair-wise breed comparisons contrasting the above breeds, as well as the Gentile di Puglia breed, …

Influence of Biomass Combustion Products on Element Content and Thermal Stability of Latvian Sheep Breed Wool Filter Fibres

2020

Sheep wool is natural, easy obtainable, renewable and biodegradable material with a perspective application as a sorbent in filters for purification of industrial emissions from various environmental pollutants. The element content and thermal stability of Latvian dark-headed sheep wool filter fibres was analysed and described before and after exposure to biomass combustion products. Based on the obtained results, it is concluded that the sheep wool filter fibres can sorb various gaseous combustion products, such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), however, the sorption processes of these gases are irreversible. The obtained results of total reflection X…

Characterisation of the microflora contaminating the wooden vats used for traditional Sicilian cheese production

2015

Traditional Sicilian cheese productions are carried out employing traditional wooden vats, called tina. Many studies have highlighted the beneficial role of wooden dairy equipment by contributing to enriching the milk microflora and improving the acidification processes. The present work was undertaken to evaluate the safety of the wooden vats used to coagulate milk. To this purpose, the different microbial populations hosted onto the internal surfaces of the vats used to produce two different stretched cheeses, namely Caciocavallo Palermitano and Vastedda della valle del Belìce DOP, were investigated for the presence of spoilag…

At the heart of the Board: CEO and Chair. Processes, practices and relationships

2019

This doctoral dissertation explores leadership in the dyadic relationship of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chair of the Board, and in the process leading to CEO dismissal. The study contributes to the literature on relational leadership and the human side of corporate governance and Board work by increasing understanding of the relational practices and processes of the CEO and Chair. A theoretical model is developed of the construction of the CEO-Chair relationship. Additionally, the study makes a methodological contribution by examining researcher-practitioner collaboration during the writing of this study. A qualitative research approach was adopted in the study, with open-end…

Surgical learning and guidance on operative risks and potential errors

2017

Purpose Within the framework of learning from errors, this study focused on how operative risks and potential errors are addressed in guidance to surgical residents during authentic surgical operations. The purpose of this paper is to improve patient safety and to diminish medical complications resulting from possible operating errors. Further in the process of the optimal contexts for instruction aimed at preventing risks and errors in the practical hospital environment was evaluated. Design/methodology/approach The five authentic surgical operations were analyzed, all of which were organized as training sessions for surgical residents. The data (collected via video-recoding) were analyze…
