<title>Additional usage possibilities for the computerized Hess screen</title>

2003

The purpose of the study was to work out a method how to use the computerized Hess screen in proximal vergence measurements. Proximal vergence or vergence due to knowledge of nearness is one of four independent components making up the total vergence response. Proximal vergence is expressed as a ratio - proximal convergence/test distance (PC/T). The computerized Hess screen is usually used to detect and to measure an ocular misalignment in patients with paralytic strabismus in different directions of gaze. The computerized Hess screen can be used to assess PC/T ratio in different directions of gaze, providing the open-loop disparity vergence and accommodation systems and assuming that tonic…

A lake fortress, a floating chronology, and an atmospheric anomaly: the surprising results of a radiocarbon wiggle-match from Āraiši, Latvia

2014

Abstract An Iron Age timber settlement which, in view of the defensive structures uncovered, is described as a lake fortress, on an island in Lake Āraiši, north-eastern Latvia, was excavated in 1965–69 and 1975–79 by teams led by Jānis Apals, who distinguished five construction phases. Dendrochronological analysis produced a c. 100-year floating chronology for Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) timbers from the earliest phase. A 14C wiggle-match was undertaken to obtain an absolute date range for the final year of the floating chronology, and thus for the construction of the settlement. Ten blocks of wood from one timber, each comprising 6-11 years and collectively spanning the whole 9…

Apuntes sobre el 'teatro civile'. Entrevista a Daniele Biacchessi

2016

Natural Addition of Ordinals

2019

Summary In [3] the existence of the Cantor normal form of ordinals was proven in the Mizar system [6]. In this article its uniqueness is proven and then used to formalize the natural sum of ordinals.

Accessing Citizenship: The Conceptual and Political Changes of the German Naturalization Policy, 1999–2006

2014

This article deals explicitly with the dimension of access in the concept of citizenship and is discussed from the point of view of migration. Access is analyzed in the context of the reform of German citizenship laws in 1999. The state of Hesse is singled out to be used as an example of parliamentary debate on the concepts of citizenship and integration. The point is to explicate the interrelations of the federal legislative reform and the conceptual implications thereof, using a statelevel example (Hesse). peerReviewed

Asymptotic Mean-Value Formulas for Solutions of General Second-Order Elliptic Equations

2022

Abstract We obtain asymptotic mean-value formulas for solutions of second-order elliptic equations. Our approach is very flexible and allows us to consider several families of operators obtained as an infimum, a supremum, or a combination of both infimum and supremum, of linear operators. The families of equations that we consider include well-known operators such as Pucci, Issacs, and k-Hessian operators.

Archiwum Księcia Ludwika Gruna Hessen-Homburga jako źródło do dziejów polskiej wojny sukcesyjnej w latach 1734–1735

2017

The article discusses part of the archival legacy of Ludwig Gruno prince of Hesse-Homburg. Born in 1705, he was one of the youngest sons of Frederick III James, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg, and spent all his adult life in Russia. He got involved in the military career, achieving the highest military degree of field marshal, and in 1735, he became general feldcejchmajster and head of the Main Chancery of the Artillery, thus becoming the commander of the whole Russian artillery. He was many times rewarded for his services, both materially and with the most important Polish and Russian orders. His career was hampered by conflicts with other commanders of the Russian army, and in 1745, his prema…
